Billy Grey is the ultimate 'toxic catalyst.' He’s a prime blueprint for the Dutch/Micah dynamic we saw later in RDR2. Like Dutch, he weaponizes the idea of 'brotherhood' to demand blind loyalty; like Micah, he is a self-serving arsonist who would rather see the club burn than see it thrive without him at the helm. When Johnny tries to prioritize the gang's survival, Billy sees it as a personal insult because to Billy, the gang is just an extension of his own ego. He doesn't just destroy himself; he corrupts the very foundation of The Lost. Rockstar clearly mastered the 'charismatic traitor' trope with Billy before perfecting it in the West.

Billy is Dutch/Micah and Johnny is Arthur/John

Billy expect loyalty from the Lost, but never showed his loyalty to them.

I remember thinking how "cool" and "badass" Billy was when I was younger. Now I see him the same way how Johnny's older brother sees him, a loser.

The difference between me and him is I actually had a PLAN.

The one thing I remember about lost and damned is that one of the first mission that Billy returns he immediately reignites a gang war that johnny had managed to calm things down around

The thing about RockStar Stories, is that pretty much the first “friend” the protagonist makes, always ends up becoming the Main Antagonist.

I still maintain the perspective that the Triads were right, that H absolutely WAS cursed. Because Billy stole it, his plan to use is to screw Jim & Johnny over backfired. And because it was in his system, he crashed his bike, was abandoned by the opportunistic weasel Brian, and got arrested.

I used to hang out with guys exactly like Billy when I was younger, just antagonistic for the sake of it. No surprise, all of them are in prison and addicted to hard drugs.

Ngl; there's something truly honest about Billy's ending. Mocking the cliche of long winded speeches & excuses. "Do it!"

Billy was a parasite to his very core. He stood for nothing and no one, lived for chaos, dysfunction and whatever base pleasure or ego trip he was experiencing in the moment.

At the end I couldn't help but feel bad for Johnny. I recall Billy once mentioning he'd rather be dead than locked up. So it wouldn't surprise me if he orchestrated all of this, knowing that Johnny would come after him and take him out as he'd rather die than be locked up again. Even when you meet him, he doesn't look surprised in the slightest, as if he was waiting for you. You can tell Johnny initially didn't want to, as he was hesitating and it was only until Billy rushed him that he pulled the trigger. Billy was a huge POS, but you can tell Johnny loved him.

Billy is a prime example of why some people shouldn't have power. Being the leader of a gang fed his ego and allowed him to hold power over a group of dangerous loyal men. It was never going to turn out well with Billy in charge.

The scene where he calls him Johnny the Jew, Klebitz the heeb my dad thought he was talking about two different people lol

So he's basically Clay Morrow from Sons of Anarchy without Clay's redeeming qualities.

Seeing Johnny in his prime here just hurts these days.

"Loyalty to a single man is a betrayal to humanity"
The littlest hobo circa 1980

Basically the modern-day Dutch van der Linde.

5 years later in GTA 5 during the mission Friends Reunited, there were Lost members who didn't believe Billy was snitching on the group and wouldn't let someone like Trevor take out an entire chapter

The one thing I wish Rockstar did with this dlc was explore the Broker chapter of The Lost. Would’ve been interesting to see some of their top leaders weigh in on the Alderney chapter (mother) go through its civil war.

He's such an evil villain. Dimitri's manipulative and traitorous ways; Tenpenny's smug intellect and talent for throwing his weight around; Smoke's verbal gymnastics, greed and hedonism; and Catalina's craziness rolled into one man.
