I'm just waiting for the end of summer so that we'll be in the high 80s instead of the 90s.

You forgot the fire ants! Every patch of untreated ground is infested with fire ants that sting and can cause infections.

We left AZ for Florida in 2021. Loved it, built a small cottage near Disney. Thought it was our dream come true. The hurricanes are not for sissies, the heat at times worse than AZ and coral snakes, water moccasins was too much. Then the traffic. We were 4 exits from Epcot and the bumper to bumper traffic took us sometimes an hour to get to the park. Came back to AZ 3 yrs later

Everything you said was absolutely accurate Ickey! I had lived in Central and South Florida for 40 years, we left 6 years ago and moved up to Ohio where I am originally from. There are many things that we did not like in Florida, However.... that being said, we are planning to be Snowbirds soon. Thanks for summing it all up accurately for folks!

I did it at 18 when palm beach was nice and quiet. You couldn't pay me to move back but it was a lot of fun back then.

Loved this video!  Here are some more things that blew my mind:  Florida has TWO allergy seasons, oh joy!  We have armadillos!  We have water retention ponds (large areas designed into most communities that become short (or long) term ponds every time it rains.  The first time I saw them I thought they were so beautiful. I thought I would go for a walk around that water retention pond. That’s when I discovered there are alligators in the water retention ponds.  We have wild pigs in my portion of central Florida.  They love to come into your yard and dig up your grass to get to the bugs below. In my first month of living in Florida, my communities, HOA authorized anyone licensed to carry a weapon in Florida to go out hunting the wild pics. Imagine my shock when I woke up to rapid gunfire one morning at sunrise.  You already mentioned the sand hill cranes but I have to say those monster birds, shocked me the first time I saw them. They’re beautiful, I love them, and we have at least a dozen or two dozen who live around here. And yes, they cross our roads to go wherever they want to go walking very slowly. And you can’t just drive through, you have to wait for them to cross the road.  You mentioned the Palmetto bugs, thank you God I don’t have that problem in my house, but they’re around. Along with pretty much every other insect that has ever been on the face of planet Earth. Oh my goodness, so many bugs. You mentioned the lizards, I have tons of them. They’re hilarious to watch. They don’t hurt anything. But in southern Florida they do have in the winter falling iguana warnings. I’ve been told when the weather is very cold the iguanas freeze and will fall out of the trees.  I’ve never seen that at my house, but I am tempted to go down around Miami just to see if it really happens down there.

And like you said, I wouldn’t trade this for anything. Is it hot? Of course it is! I came here for hot. Is the humidity off the scale? Of course it is!!!  I like to think of it as the hot weather just folding its arms around me as I walk outside and give me a big wet juicy Florida hug. Florida, I love ya!

Spot on video!  I moved to Orlando over 30yrs ago and everything you talk about got worse and you didn't even mention the cost of housing.

I moved to Daytona in 1982 from Vegas when I was 20. The heat didn’t bother me that much back then. As years went by and I got older, my intolerance to heat increased. The fleas, ticks and palmettos were bad where we lived. Then every hurricane I had to go to work at Halifax, years later at hospice. Traffic wasn’t too bad in Daytona. In 2017 I’d had enough. NYE 2016 temp was high 80s at around 9pm with 85% humidity. I ended up moving back to NV but made the cooler choice of Reno. Love it here.

My parents moved our family to Florida’s Space Coast from Connecticut when I was 11 years old (which was quite some time ago). I agree with your 3 things, although traffic is not as bad. I’d like to add in addition to the heat and humidity, the sun is just brutal! Everything just bakes and bakes all summer long. Ever burn your hand on a steering wheel? One more thing to consider is the quality of the school systems. Having experienced it first hand, I’ll just say there’s a huge difference between northeast US and Florida’s schools.

I didn't move to Florida but did move to South Carolina from northern Ohio, I'm back in Ohio now.  The palmetto bugs are the worse, my daughter used to scream when she saw one in the house.  I used to get a kick out of the weather people telling us a cold front was coming through and it would drop to a high of 90.  The thunderstorms were the same as in Florida, we could sit and watch them build every afternoon.  You would be driving home and it's pouring and get to your house and it's completely dry.

Moved here six years ago from Wild Wonderful Southern West Virginia... Spot on with everything, especially with the amount of wildlife and the traffic.  I have no intention of leaving.  I love it!

Nothing like a hurricane party 🎉

I moved down there from Massachusetts back in 2005 mainly to get away from the snow and cold. Since i had worked in the Disney Store for a few years, going to work for Disney World was obvious.  I lived there for 9 yrs., working as a deluxe hotel club concierge, but family called me back to the Boston area (my first grandchild was born and I didn't want to miss out on all the grandma perks).  I totally agree with all three of your observations,  If family hadn't changed my direction and Disney paid more, I may be still living there.  i do still go back a couple of times a year and miss being there more often.  Thanks for your videos and it brings back even more memories.

Moved from VT in 2019 to Northern Florida. Everything you say is true and the reason I've decided to move back to the North 😅

We packed up and left NJ for a lifestyle visit. In laws retired and talked us into it. We wanted our daughter to get into one of the charter schools by my in laws. So far we love it but i know every state has pros and cons!

This was your funniest post so far, but packed with excellent information and insight. As a person from Massachusetts who has family in Florida, I visit every year. Having lived in Puerto Rico and Arizona, I know that Florida is hot, but that doesn't bother me nearly as much as the traffic. I know Orlando really well now, but I leave the map on all the time too. Spot on.

Best quote…cockroaches the size of smart cars!  😂😂😂

Heat lightning is a name given to lightning that is simply to far away to hear the thunder.

Love the new ending, “I’ll see you at the bus stop”.  ❤

I lived in Florida from 1991 to 2002; Daytona Beach and Tallahassee while going to Florida State University. It took about 6 months for my body to get use to the water because of the dissolved limestone in the water. Living in Daytona Beach the daily rain from May to October would happen later than Orlando area; it would pour down monsoon rain for about 20 to 30 minutes around 4:00 to 4:30 PM. We have in Daytona Beach less than 10 nights a year get below freezing. A little exaggerated about the heat during the late Autumn, Winter and early Spring. I remember coming to Florida late February early March 2023 it got into the high 80s but comfortable with the humidity.
