Spend a day with the firefighters of Prescott Fire Department’s Engine 72 in Prescott, Arizona.

From life around the station to responding to calls across the city, this ride-along offers an inside look at what a shift with Engine 72 is really like.

Prescott has a firefighting history unlike almost anywhere else in the country. During the shift, we respond to medical emergencies, visit the Granite Mountain Hotshots Learning and Tribute Center, and see firsthand how wildland fire remains part of everyday life for firefighters in this community.

But some of my favorite moments from this ride-along happened between the calls — eating together, playing Catan around the kitchen table, talking about the job, and getting to know the firefighters behind the apparatus.
