If you don't kill in one interaction, your rank automatically goes down 30 spots

THEY ALL WENT DOWN IN THE RECENT TIER LIST 😭😭😭

Because they’re all trembling at Plant’s new C- tier position.

Sakurai sacrificed Marth

I think swordies have been getting parried a lot more now and it’s scary when you’re in disadvantage state with them especially with Roy and Cloud. Cloud being at 28 on the new tier list also shows clarity.

I think it's funny that Byleth was able to dominate because as bad of a low start he was, he has that high power level ceiling of cheese which someone only as good as Leo was able to pull out

It's because they're way too honest. Even Roy and Aegis don't have tods or anything. They're just good characters

Ultimate at this point is pretty done with "neutral" as a foundational concept.

Even characters with "bad" neutrals are doing better than Swordies and I firmly believe it's because once you've played the game enough, you should just have a good neutral in general, character choice be damned.

Japan just had a tournament where a Ganondorf was crushing people because ultimately nobody wins the game by being in neutral.

You win by taking every stock.

Swordies don't naturally lend themselves to taking stocks without hard reads. And with that in mind, why not pick a character who also takes stocks with hard reads but kills significantly easier?

Ultimate is not intricate enough of a game for it to have evolved to have the most strict or unbalanced neutral of any fighting game, therefore the weakness of a character's other stats are going to shine a lot brighter. Most swordies just don't do anything besides "win neutral" and its like...

"Everyone can win neutral in Ultimate, dipshit, it came free with your universal parry and 3 frame jumpsquats."

Marth, a three-time top tier, is now officially in the lowest tier level.

Disjoints are kinda useless if you aren’t using them to kill in one hit.

I agree with your take on this. They're a relic of 2018-2020 where neutral was important. But because everyone has developed their techs, confirms, and gameplans it now matters about checkmating your opponent the fastest which most swordies cannot do. The one who technically can like Aegis and Roy excel but the rest will wither away like Lucina, Byleth, and more

so ... has anyone still figured out shulk yet? last time i checked in with the smash competitive scene he was a potential man

Well I just watched a tournament where if a ganondorf guessed right he won the entire game. I mean if you have a shortcut to your win condition that's just really good I guess.

Not only is having a ridiculous punish game becoming more necessary and parrying helping against swordies in neutral, but bad matchups for swordfighters are becoming more relevant in Ultimate. Sonic, Min Min, Samus, and Snake are struggle matchups for almost every sword fighter, and characters like Diddy Kong, Joker, Fox, and Pikachu haven’t exactly fallen completely out of favor either. Aegis beats most other swordies so power creep is a factor, and other characters rising up in relevance like Hero and DK can be struggle matchups for swordies

True, everyone is talking about Cloud's fall, Luigi's rise, Marth's d3ath sentence and Plant's funny spot, but no one is talking about how Sephiroth is now 53/82, it's near to crumble in the Low tiers of C because of that

7:50 thank you for the Ignaize glaze. It’s hard in these streets for the tip gang but we’ll put em on the map eventually 🤧

Tweek talked about this in one of the Tweek Talks episodes and he's completely right. Swordies are definitely not up to snuff in this meta.

5:35 for once I believe someone when they say "pun not intended" since "double edged sword" is definitely a staple in Var's vocabulary

This is why we need the weapon triangle

Let's just say, there's a reason everyone likes Leo and Sparg0. Because when they win, they win with mostly skill. The vast majority of players in the top 20 play a checkmate character, which like was said in the video, you don't have to be the best player in the world to win when the situation is a checkmate scenario, hence why most people root for the downfall of any Steve or Min Min onscreen.
