Characters I main is hype and characters i don’t main are lame

Taking out the top row would make this game amazing

I find hype to be more of a sign of how risky something is to do. Like sure pikachu may not be the best character in the game, but they also aren't hype in my eyes because of how much they can do.

I don't understand why SSBU can't do 'low tier' tournaments like other older games (CvS2, MvC2, MvC3). Just ban the top 10 for some tournaments and have fun.

The top 10 are just so cookie cutter and unfun to watch. Even going down just a few spots to Peach and Joker, they still need to interact in meaningful and interesting ways vs you know exactly how that match is going to go.

1:41 Editor wanted us to know that one.

Captain Falcon is peak hype. Every Falcon Punch, every knee, every dair-spike is so satisfying.

The risk reward is what makes characters hype for example GNW isn’t hype at all because everything he does is safe and he takes stocks so easily without risking anything and his ledge trapping is literally free(also no risk); Characters like Wolf,CF,Joker,Fox all have to put themselves at risk to take stocks or recover or win neutral so
HYPE = IMPRESSIVE.

Also Steve’s combos can be called “technical” but getting that first up tilt isn’t, he can literally walk and spam it until it hits 🤦‍♂️ also as someone who used to play UMVC3 i wouldn’t even consider combo execution impressive unless it was actually super super difficult like a UMVC3 infinite (which people would execute pretty consistently in brackets)

Except Joker is kinda lame unless he's in the right hands

I mean it can also apply in the other direction. Low tiers can also be considered boring because their tool kit is not interesting to watch and 1-dimensional. Dedede lobbing gordo for the umpteenth time to ledgetrap or Villager spamming slingshot in neutral kinda give the same vibe to me even if they aren’t anywhere near as good as the top tiers

I love close quarter fighting, because look at sheik no many combos and true combos and the same edge guarding you see everytime but its still fun

I dont pay attention to the world cup, I'm still reeling from the nba finals

Honestly, for me even the lamest characters can have hype moments, like GNW going for DThrow --> 9 or Min Min dairing someone to deny them from coming back to stage.

There's also playstyle, you have to take that into account. An aggressive Link player is so much more fun to watch than a campy Link, at least for me. Watching them go for F-Smash reads and off-stage dairs is so much cooler than them just chucking projectiles

Top tiers are never hype, bottom tiers are always hype. End of story.

I can't help but always have to root for the underdog; rooting against them would be like wanting an abled person to win against a disabled person.

Top tiers can be hype in a vacuum, but the overall limited capabilities of a bottom tier and seeing their limits be pushed is always exciting.
That one MKLeo vs Zaki match from Smash 4 is the perfect example of this; I don't think I ever got more excited over a match than that one.

I'm convinced the tier list has that top row of characters made to intentionally be the most unlikable highest tier in a tier list

Seeing new things is hype, for example some crazy pac man set up that somehow works. Also risk, and fast pace. Main thing is just seeing something youve never seen before that works

Great choice of BGM. Love to see DS era Digimon Story representing

BroKen Trace game Throwback SO GOOD!!!!! Forgor how funny that was! XD

Players and characters can influence hype. Fatality is the most efficient falcon but he has decent amounts of hype, while Karaage, Sean, Andrik play with more reactions, reads and high risk attempts. Same character with baseline hype but different approaches. Also character abilities affect the baseline hype as well. SSBU Sora doesn’t really have an appeal for hype while almost any character in SSBM can have hype.. while I’m writing this I realize there are many levels to this lol

Snake is an outlier imo. He can be incredibly boring but in the right players hands hype to watch

You got that digimon world dawn music. I know that shit
