Aaaaaw, it warmed my heart a lot that you used my theme and also see you enjoying REAPER so much. I super agree that it's not the best looking thing nor the most intuitive of all, but I do think it pays off and worth the try ✨ thanks for the shoutout! 🙏

I'm producing music since 25 years and making a living off of it,
Been using pro tools, logic, Cubase, Ableton and Studio One over the years..
Reaper needs tweaking to make it work to your liking, this takes time,
but it pays off with the best CPU performance in any DAW, amazing stability and an enormous feature set by installing scripts.
I totally love it!

I myself use reaper to play my audio and midi, mainly because of the great accessibility support, via the osara extention. I'm a blind user, so accessible software is important, and the combination of reaper, with osara and sws is very accessible, as osara is developed by and for blind reaper users, and is always staying up to date with the latest things in reaper. Not everything is accessible, but 99 percent of the stuff you can do in reaper is, and much of the time, a workflow that has been made accessible using osara is very intuitive to grasp.

🌟UPDATE!!! My god that was quick, Reaper released an update today (7.43) that fixes the dark theme background in the FX plugin window I was talking about in this video! Kudos to the developers! 🌟

Click on fx button to add effects - Options menu, you can select to 'auto float fx windows'. Gets rid of the white background.

This was a very fair and accurate review of REAPER.
You did the necessary preliminary steps to make reaper MUCH more useful to a new user: namely using a better theme and customizing scroll and other controls.
Too often people say that REAPER is for beginners because of its low price. It absolutely is not for beginners because of its price and lack of a plug-in bundle. I would actually argue that it’s for more experienced users who already have plug-ins of their own, or for beginners who have the foresight to realize that most of the plug-ins that come bundled with a DAW aren’t very good and that they will likely buy their own eventually anyway.
Good video…

So nice to see a reviewer take the time to actually use the DAW on a project instead of blindly clicking around and saying a bunch a nonsense. So many people giving advice on the "Top Ten DAWS" and then giving their "opinion" but never actually learning how to use it. Any DAW is going to take time to learn if you want to use it properly. For some people, Reaper might take some initial time to learn and wrap your head around (although I took to it right away), but I don't think the learning curve for Reaper is any more than any other DAW when you look at everything that must learned in total to do a proper mix. I would never just click around in Protools, for example, and after a few days say "I quit! this isn't for me". Instead I would take some online courses on how to use it, learn as much as I can, get tips and tricks from the community and  work on a project from start to finish. Why most reviewers don't care to do that these day is beyond me other than they are all just looking for clicks. Great job on being different, and doing it the right way!

I needed a DAW that had good video capabilities, because I had the contract to write the music for a Cartoon Series. I started using Reaper and was blown away by its power and flexibility. If you intend to do any work to picture, Reaper is just amazing.

Lovely risk of rain track! Hit the nail on the soundscape

There are some very nice features on audio tracks for editing and retiming the audio.  I haven't used them much, but if, for instance, you had rushed in one part of a recording, you can place markers in the audio and then drag those to where you want them in the timeline.  Reaper has algorithms for stretching while maintaining pitch, so recorded audio is easy to retime.

Actually, there's a lot (though right now I'm also constantly switching to Ableton for composing on the go). But here's a tiny list:
- You can shortcut anything, including plugins like EQs or Synthesizers
-There are some great JS plugins by Tukan and Saike, which are really dope and free (with anlog emulaton, distortion and lofi plugins and an effetrix clone... sort of)
-MK's Shutter and Slicer Scripts that can create cool stutter fx and slice your own melodies into a new sampler and play them as chopped up versions
-The ability to create custom scripts (I created one for myself where I can resample anything into a sample instrument)
- The ability to insert FX on clips (midi and audio)
-And last but not least, the ability to create custom menus and toolbars

Enjoyed your honest and open take on Reaper. Hope to see more deep dives into the DAW.

Reaper user for about 8 years. One thing I love, is using it with live production. It is really lite for a programe, and very rare to crash. You can run this thing smooth on some old gear too. Not just for recording, but mixing live shows. And from a laptop. Yes, I do use it for recording in my Studio too. But, because it can do both, It's just easier to use the same programme for both. jmho.

finally I found another video that actually demonstrates sound results after recording edits and lets us hear the results for ourselves instead of telling us how great this tool is ! These live track samples is what will make me want to buy this program ! Not someone talking about it all damn day long.

I only got into making music about 3 years ago and I've only ever used Reaper. I know that it does everything I want, but that it does so much more. I do find it confusing at times, but that is just because of my inexperince with DAW's, not Reaper specifically. I shall be trying out the Reapertips theme for sure. Thanks for the video 😎

We need a video on how you use that touchpad. Subbed and anxious for that one. 🤟😎

Also I think u can tweak some of the colors in theme tweak option inside the main action window...but some themes wont change

Love Reaper, not had a single issue with crashes since I swapped over to it from Adobe Audition back in 2019.

The sleek Bitwig coffee mug! Love it!

tukan studios got most bases covered as far as plugins go, look good too....
