The existence Valve VR looks like helps the whole Linux ecosystem to be better - ARM improvements, call translation and so on!

Silicon Graphics did this 3D desktop stuff in 1993 with the IRIX Interactive Desktop. There is a very famous movie which shows it a bit, after the timeless line "This is a Unix System, I know this!"

The 3d environment in Starling looks like Waylandcraft which is a mod for Minecraft which allows you to use Wayland windows within Minecraft.

I already hate taking my hands off my keyboard to grab the mouse, imagine a desktop in 3d world... that's Jurassic park "it's Unix, I know this" level of horror

I'd like to see what happens with that weird 3D desktop combined with VR.

We've already got something not too dissimilar, imho with WaylandCraft, the Minecraft mod.

oh that's what the grub thing was :O luckily i normally boot with an efistub and only use grub for snapshot boots so i just deleted the main grub entry. good to know it wasn't somehting weird that i did, thanks! :)
