Nouakchott !  Can't believe it.  Spent a day there passing through from Dakar, Senegal out into the Sahara in June (!) of 73 as part of an eclipse expedition for a super long eclipse that took place there.  Very VERY hot, and even worse away from the coast out in the desert.  It was regularly 126F - in the SHADE - mid day.  I only survived by being 17.

I lived abroad for almost 12 years and I’m from Mauritania. Honestly, I really can’t disagree with you. I wish you give a chance again to Mauritania but definitely not in Nouakchott ! The desert, mountains and beaches are much better

It feels like the notion of 'public space' doesn’t exist in some parts of Africa. People literally don’t care. Poorer countries often have better-maintained capital cities and roads
