The fact you don't even remember downloading this game is sending me lmao.

1:00 - the logo is the title “brain damage” in the game’s font, rotated 90 degrees clockwise and zoomed in between the n and d

The fact that you must keep on doing attempts on the man's head over and over is supposed to probably suggest that a new victim is being used and tested every time rather than just a save being rolled back

You randomly finding a videogame in your download folder named "Brain Damage" has got to be some kind of sign bro

Pretty good video, i got off

they made a game about you

To explain Puppydrome:

It's a "game" that's just an experiment in negative probabilities -- you get to call two boxes. You can either open one of them to see if it has a puppy, or weigh them to see if they weigh the same (and thus, either both don't have a puppy or both do have a puppy). It's not as dramatic as the thought experiment that inspired it (where you had a 100% chance of the equivalent of having a puppy in either box and a 0% chance of them weighing the same), but as you repeat the experiment and keep track of the tallies of how often each result happened and the predicted probability on display, you find that they don't actually line up.

The odds of a puppy being in either box are about 80%, which means the odds of both puppies should be about 64 percent, and the odds of neither puppies should be about 4 percent, for an odds of them weighing the same of 68% -- let's assume that'd be either a .7 or .6 on the single-digit decimal display in-game.

Instead, over numerous repetitions, it tends out to around 50%. Long story short, some possible states of the two boxes must have a negative probability, which we don't see outright when checking because we can't directly observe both states at the same time, only one or the other or whether they're the same, and that means when you add up the probabilities, contingent states' probabilities don't relate the way they seem like they should. (We can't read Flash source code, so we don't know the exact probabilities involved or how it pulls off coding negative probability)

This does not make its connection to Brain Damage any clearer than what you got.

already forgetting a download of a game about brain damage is a literal brain damage

I keep seeing people talk about “disturbing games” and glossing over all the mechanics and everything they actually have to offer in favor of shock factor, so seeing you actually go through the game’s code and figure out how it worked was really cool! you have my admiration lol

the real brain damage you get while watching or playing this game was understanding how the starting 5 pixel is a "Person"...and the code

guy who can only process the world through wojaks

Feels cursed in the same way “covetous” was, which is a compliment

I always love increpares weird games, in a world where everything is hyperpolished, increpares weird games amuse me in a grotesque way

not surprised it's an increpare game. he's made a ton of strange & bizarre games in the past. most of his more notable works have been puzzle games (i.e. stephen's sausage roll), but i find a lot of charm in his more experimental works.

lamwarp finally found a game that describes him

Increpare games is a very interesting subject. I don't know how I'd describe them as a whole. Schizophrenic? Hundreds of them, all simplistic, mainly abstract puzzle games, but there's a handful hidden within the collection that are very creepy/weird/interesting experiences. Almost always lacking any real explanation behind them. The thing being is that you likely will have no idea which games are the weird or mundane ones unless you play them, as they will most often fail to differentiate between them in the title, thumbnail or description. I remember being in school, playing one of his games about stock trading at the computer until suddenly being jumpscared by a loud noise paired with a crude drawing of a naked woman at one point in the game. They definitely create lasting experiences.

2:04 Rides with Strangers mention in 2026 is insane

maybe the real brain damage is the friends we made along the way

5:16 I know you probably didn't mean it this way, but the origins of zombies are tied to Haitian voodoo, chattel slavery, and being controlled by another after death (basically never being able to rest and still being enslaved)

Oh man, I played this game back when it was new, and this is the first time I’ve seen anyone talk about this game since then. The text “That’s Not What I Wanted” has lived in my head for over a decade and a half.

There’s a couple of things this video didn’t mention:

1. After you screw up, the “restart” button is a hacksaw. The implication here is not that you’re drilling one guy’s head over and over again, but that every time you fail, you kill your victim, dispose of their body, and find another one.

2. The video mentioned Jeffrey Dahmer offhandedly but I’m pretty sure this entire game is a direct reference to him, as he did this exact thing IRL in an attempt to make his victims into obedient zombies.

I only ever played it briefly, got a few different results, then gave up. I was not surprised to see that you had to actually look at the source code to figure out how to “win”. I always suspected that the point of the game was mostly to get you to fail at the task, just like Dahmer himself did.
