The universe itself is going through eternal "cycles" of birth/war/death. The Tyranid Hive Mind entity collects the biological data of ALL living data to continue into the next cycle. Eventually creating the most perfect infinite lifeform at the end of time.

I saw a story that explained why no one tries to leave the galaxy. They sent probes out to several galaxies and only got some audio back. No matter where they sent the probes in other galaxies, they either got silence, orks, or the chittering of tyranids

Here's a crazy theory the emperor is still conscious and actively calling the Tyrinids to Terra. He's disgusted with what the Empirium has become and wants to wipe the slate clean and start over hell he could be the hive mind. Probably not the case but a cool theory.

I really like the theory that the Tyranids were created by the Old ones. The various fleets ensure that no one countermeasure can stop them and the hive mind could just be a massive supercomputer in another galaxy

One thing I love about 40k lore is that basically every faction has the potential to become a galaxy dominating/ending threat if they get their shit together in one shape or another.

IMO when two hive fleets clash its not about dominence, its about merging genetic data. whoever did the better job is consumed by the other, aquiring all the gene traits they previously collected, cataloging them and figuring out how to integrate them into their current hive fleet (or if integration is even necessary at that time?) The hive fleets develop a "library" of traits which they open up when they hit a dead end during an invasion the way we would open up a recipe book. The nids are possibly the greatest source of genetic data in the galaxy, and I suspect the norn queens that make tyrannid units all have access to this "library" via the synapse network and that if a unit is chosen to evolve into a norn queen (or a tervigon since I hear they can birth gaunts too) that unit is connected to the synapse network's library.

My head cannon is that the warp disturbed a being in another galaxy/reality and after being driven insane it sent the Tyranids to scour the source of the warp's corruption.

It's not enough to kill all life, it must absorb all organic matter to stop life from ever existing again.

I think the Tyranids vs Orks challenge lends weight to the idea the Tyranids were created to cleanse the galaxy. The Orks are difficult to exterminate because of their spores. The Tyranids are the only faction whose basic strategy involves scouring every last organic molecule from a planet.

If you were the old ones and you’d created the Krork as a biological weapon that can’t be controlled, the Tyranids are a great solution.

The "galactic harvester" theory doesn't really work, because there are multiple species (Aeldari, Orks) who have been around for 65+ MILLION years, and the War in Heaven was five million years itself so the Necrons would likely have encountered them too. If the Tyranids were a cyclical apocalyptic event, they'd be remembered.

9:40 theyre interested in the golden throne precisely because the tyranid have no defense against the warp, but they can see holy terra does. They have had no luck evolving a defense the warp so their looking to eat the only thing in the universe that  has. They see the light, they understand what it does, and thats why it attracts them. They're going to assimilate it.

I like the bugs more and more with the more lore I learn.

One thing people forget is the necrons do have some of the kroks frozen on stasis and still alive so they could actually breed the krorks and release them back into the galaxy

Taking out the astranomicon to make humanity easy prey makes sense to me
