I like how Puss n Boots has a redeemable villain, an irredeemable villain, and a terrifying villain and it all works out and none of them feel wasted

"Is it because of your parents?"
"No"

Absolute cinema

"I never had much as a kid. Just loving parents, stability, and a thriving baked goods enterprise for me to inherit. Useless crap like that."
-Jack Horner

What did he do to deserve this?! I mean to what specifically?!

What makes Jack so great is that he is both self-aware and oblivious at the same time.
He knows, for example, that he has a black soul, but when he loses, he asks why exactly he deserved it. The same applies to Excalibur. He has acquired this magical sword because he knows its power, but has no idea why he can't get it out of the stone. This contradiction creates his chaotic character, who tries to solve all problems with these powerful toys, but in the most direct way possible.

PS: Giving him Jiminy Cricket after he was surpassed by Pinocchio is not without a certain irony.

"You wouldn't shoot a puppy, would you?"

"Yeah, in the face, why?"

Bro confirmed the threat, clarified where he was going to shoot, and wondered why Jiminy had a problem with it lmao

I have to appreciate how you called it a "Magical doraemon bag" instead of Mary Poppin's bag and what is clearly just Jiminy Cricket a "grasshopper"

To be fair, I see Death more so as an antagonist than a villain. Puss just laughed in his face for too long and he kinda took it personally lol

Jack Horner feels like he'd be at home in the world of One Piece.

Everyone is calling him a villain but nobody is saying that he has every right to be one! His childhood was really bad... he never had much as a kid, only loving parents, stability in a mansion and a thriving baked goods enterprise for him to inherit.

I love that Jack and Death are different characters.  Jack is absolutely evil, he is not redeemable, he is self-centered and does not at all care about others.  But Death is a force, the only reason he got involved in the story is seemingly because of got tired of the disrespect Puss was showing toward life.  He didn't care about any other conflict, it was just his lesson to Puss, that was the focus.  And when the lesson was conveyed, he stepped back.  Death is terrifying, but he isn't "evil".  Jack Horner is horrifying and pure self-centered evil.

He has baby unicorn horns, yes, but did you notice that his horses are unicorns with their horns cut off? These baby unicorns are still alive and in his possession.

Jack Horner is a stand in for Disney

One of my favourite Jack scenes,
He takes the Phoenix and he spouts fire out of it's beak,
" pretty boss flamethrower right, DONT BE NEAR WHERE I'M FLAME THROWING.

Jack horner is literally the best villain in animation, hall of fame nomination right here

You could say Jack Horner is a pretty important piece of the... Pie... Eh? EH?? EEEHHH?!?!?

I also like that Jack subtly hinted that he hated his nursery rhyme, only because he wasn’t good enough to be put into a fairytale.

The best part is that he knows he deserved everything bad that happened to him but in his final moments he asks what specifically he did to deserve it lol.

He knows that he deserves it but not just wants the universe to explain what specific reason why.

1:10 Simply put, Death isn't really a villain, he's an aggresive force of nature that clashes with the protagonist.
