This customer’s Mazda CX-5 had a full logbook service history, so at first glance you'd assume everything had been maintained exactly as it should be.

But once I started the major service, something just wasn't adding up...

The engine oil was low, the air filter and cabin filter looked like they'd been neglected, and when I pulled the spark plugs out, their condition raised even more questions about what had actually been replaced during previous services.

In this video, I take you through the CX-5 from start to finish, working through the major service and investigating exactly what's been done — and what appears to have been missed along the way.

This is why I service my vehicles myself. This dealer needs to be named, shamed, and reported to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland.

It’s bloody outrageous that the dealership charged the customer all that money and didn’t change the spark plugs, air and cabin filters changed the brake fluid or put the right amount of engine oil. That’s what you a call a rip off for paid services not done. The owner should take this video to the dealership or service center and show them and demand a full refund for money paid or he will report them ti the appropriate authorities. Good job Andrew 👆👍

I recently bought an off lease 2015 CX-5 that had detailed service history (it was 5 years old when I bought it). BUT, the cabin filter was OEM and the oil filter was OEM. Neither was ever changed. They paid for them to be, but the shop definitely did not replace them (service was done locally and not at Mazda dealer)

Those spark plugs were definitely not replaced. The rust on those plugs also tells you they didn't change them.

Whoever owns this Mazda really takes care of it. Nice and shiny. As an owner you should check the oil yourself.

Sad to see examples of Dealerships not doing what they say… after a similar experience, I put discreet marks on all the filters, oil plugs etc before a service and checked them before I left the service centre ( except the oil plug obviously😊) and often asked for any parts that were replaced to put the old ones in a box. Had them try and tell me my brakes pads needed replacing on a service when the same dealer ‘supposedly’ changed them the previous service … 😂… love your standard Andrew👍

One other item that has popped up on my radar, and that is changing the fluid in the rear differential and transfer case in CX-5s with AWD. I know A LOT of other CX-5 GT AWDs and none have even service their transmissions, forget about the rear diff and transfer case! I did my wife's 2013 and it made a noticable difference in power and shifting (both better!).

Excellent service, thorough & completed in a professional manner. Thats what we all expect & pay good money for, such a letdown discovering this customer’s mum has looked after her car at the dealer, & received a car wash instead of maintenance.
My wife’s new CX5 Ankara is nearly due for its 1st service, I hope this issue is a QLD thing…

If they didn't bother to replace the cabin filter which takes all of 30 seconds then the chances they replaced the brake fluid are approximately zero.
