A proper stealth van, just plain old white and park hidden in plain sight. Well worth the effort and for your last spend, a hard hat, reflective vest and a sun newspaper to leave in on the front seat.😊

The best part about doing van conversions is that you build it to suite your needs and to your tastes. What others think is irrelevant.

Bit late to the party but this is way more interesting to me than buying a sprinter and spending a shed load on it. I love a bargain even if it involves tearing your hair out with the stress

I enjoyed your video. For my part, car camping is my thing in the colder months, and my routine about sleeping is to find a nice place (e.g. a layby) and relax, get myself organised, and then, when ready, drive to a populated area (e.g. a housing estate) to park my car amongst other cars just to sleep, my intention is just to blend in, and not to be noticed. I never park anywhere to sleep where I may be the only vehicle, that would mean that anyone nearby would notice me, That's all I do whilst parked there, I sleep. Once I wake up, I get in the driver's seat, and drive back to my nice place, to relax, and have breakfast etc, and sort myself, and my day out.

Absolutely love this. Your not trying to be someone your not. The mistakes you make help others when starting their van life. Enjoy the van life mate, hopefully be joining you soon!

B&Q is a rip off for wood, local merchants way cheaper, all the best buddy good content

It's great that you kept the mistakes in the video. It helps to make people aware of potential pitfalls.

You did a surprisingly good job with the Lining Carpet.  Next time, use a pastry roller, kitchen wooden spoon for the stretching and pushing into corners etc - no need to by tools for that.  Pressed on very strongly the carpet gets bonded better.  Warm the insulation before fitting, it sticks on better and will be neater, less or no tape needed.  BUT do buy a battery drill/screwdriver, screwdrivers ruin you hands and wrists!!  Put a vent in your roof that opens and screws down from inside.  Make or adapt a folding table at the back door area and get or make a cover to fit someway onto the top of the rear doors.  You can cook and eat on the table, fit some swivel wooden locks on the inside sides to transport it.  Just use a Jackery or Bluetti power bank for lighting, and whatever.  That can be charged from you cigarette lighter socket in the van, or solar 100w flexible panel  - Store that under the mattress.  Good luck John

I love the interim frustration on how everything is getting ridiculously expensive! And yes to the low cost efforts, thank you!!! Cannot stand the luxurious videos on Instagram anymore

I don't know what's going on with the YouTube algorithm but I got pushed this video because I like van builds....suddenly I see B&Q and realise we live in the same place, what a small world...

I just did the exact same van, mine had windows in rear doors, bought it cheap, sold it for 3 times as much and only spent 500, I even fitted a 135w solar panel and mppt charger on a leisure battery, was nice when done, sink unit etc and tap, the buyer was so happy they used it same weekend to take a trip on the south coast.

Go Kiddo .......live that life ....dont chase money ,stay humble, keep life simple ,do what makes you happy and you will be richer for it.  best wishes young man.

Great vid, thanks. I have a Kango 1.5 diesel and the first thing I did was fit a tow bar. I purchased a 4 ft box trailer , a roof rack and a drive away tent.  My local charity shops supplied two 3 drawyer cabinets and a small ottermanbox and a carpet shop plenty of offcuts. I decided my overnight sleeping arrangments coud be taken care of with a top quality blow up mattress and a bkanket. ( easily rollecup and stored ). The cooking is done on a twin burner camping stove with cartridge gas cyliders and a small pan and a wok does everything.  There's tons of room for the important stuff : fishing rods and tackle, wet suit and snorkel set, metal detector and coastal foraging gear.  The trailer takes the tent, folding small table and chair  , bucket and collapsable bowl plus the othe detritus you need .  Cheap basic camp sites supply the water and toilet facilities and at 65-70 mpg you can have a ball cheaply tourin this great land. Stay safe . 😊

Love it, I owned a kango I did during covid, it saved my life during a bout of serious depression, Build it out of leftovers from my business lol I would show you the interior build but I can't on here lol.

Great video, I'm thinking of doing a conversion myself so you showing the mistakes aswell as the successes is really useful. Best way of learning.
Good on you 👍

Iv done the same van had it 3 years done the whole of the UK in it I love it

Very well done, with or without setbacks. Yet I would've utilized the old ply-lining (however tatty) as a cutting & drilling-guide for replacement panels.

Thank you for the inspiration. I've been wanting to do this for a while, and you have shown me that it's really not that difficult if you just want a basic place to sleep while travelling, as I have a tendency to overthink and overcomplicate things. Best of luck on your journeys!

The van is actually in mint shape!
