The thing about the sten gun is, its 1000% better than no gun. And thats the situation they were in.

Im 60 years old , and even though i've not handled a SLR since the eighties i still felt stirrings watching  that gat doing the voodoo that it did so well .... but they were beaten down with the appearance of that carbuncle of a rifle ... the SA 80 !!!

The SUSAT does NOT suck. It's just an old optic. I could one shot Fig 11s at 600m.

Frankenrifle cries out:  "What about me?!"

The SLR and Sterling were what i used in my day, especially liked the SLR. An older pal of mine told me a story of when he was standing guard in Borneo during the confrontation with Indonesia, when he was in the RAF. He was sitting on a stone pier with his legs over the edge as a small boat was being unloaded by members of the Singapore Regiment, with his loaded Sterling in his lap. As he awkwardly tried to stand up, he accidentally hit the mag release, and heard a splash as his loaded mag fell out into the deep water. The Singapore Regiment guy's saw this and started laughing and taking the piss. I asked if he got into trouble over this, but he just winked and said he was the only Armourer there at the time, and was one of only a few Brits there setting up a new Airfield, and he therefore did a bit of creative accounting to cover the loss.

Thank you for the nice, friendly, positive "bros on the range" video. Great bit of escapism with you two fine gents.

I gave a Navy Seal a go on my SA80 A3 in Afghanistan on a range. He loved it. Said it was pretty much impossible to miss. Still too heavy though :)

I used SA80's for 24 years. So fed up with the hate for the SA80 and the SUSAT. A perfectly good weapon and sight when in the hands of someone who can actually shoot and just as importantly Zero their SUSAT correctly.

I like the subtle dig at GarandThumb lol

l1a1 S.L.R. fantastic weapon. The right arm of the free world.

The Sterling is indeed, a very good gun. I think it still is.

Did anyone else smile when the SLR appeared?

"Shoulder thing that goes up", LOL. Bloke learning all about guns from American politicians.

This was such a lovely video, having watched both of these chaps for several years now this was just lighthearted nonsense.

As an  ex RAF and air cadet previously, I fired the .303 Enfield and FN/SRL. In the cadets we had .22 for our indoor range. When I was in the RAF the SLR was my favourite.
The SLR was easy to operate and field strip definitely as mentioned 10 out of 10 I had the greatest respect for it for the firepower of its 7.62mm NATO ammunition

You had two of the best guns ever made slr 7.62 and9mm smg both proven in combat.

The gun community is so universal that a UK guy makes "shoulder thing that goes up" jokes.

Gotta love seeing James use a L85A1 at the range :)

The ARRSEerati gone global..well done BOTR!

Once you appreciate that the side magazine on Sten/Sterling are so it can be fired from prone it makes  absolute sense!
