Great to see old bolties in action.

Great work! This is the stuff that got me hooked on the channel, glad to see you make it out for such a historic anniversary of the shoot

I like these traditional matches, thank you for uploading this.

While I understand you’re shooting down into a valley and it should be perfectly safe, seeing those buildings down range REALLY gave me the heebie-genies!😂

One interesting thing about the Swiss trouncing Charles the Bold is that it (indirectly) ends the English longbow.
Charles army was considered the peak of the late medevial doctrine introduced by the English in the 100 years war. In short, a core of heavy cavalry that dismounted for defence, backed up by three times their number of archers.

Notably lacking from the English expeditionary forces where regular infantry, as these where not considered able to stand up to the professional heavies.

When the Swiss demonstrated that you COULD actually drill and discipline your citizens into effective fighting units, this caused a paradigm shift in European warfare. By 1500 even the Welsh where mustered as pikemen instead of as archers.

Initially each pike company had 300 pikes and 100 doupelsolders, veterans that could choose weapons freely. Many of them chose firearms. These were used just before the charge, almost like Roman pilae.
Until someone found out that if you had more guns, you could fire more from farther away…

In the end, with bayonets, everyone could have a gun. But the doctrine still wanted the soldier to self-identify as a temporarily inconvenienced pikeman.

I was there too. Scored a mediocre 26. My target was in the shadow under the only tree...

Always wonderful to see some proper/traditional marksmanship. I appreciate the jabs at the those that complain without understanding any type of shooting other than modern tactical too. Your content makes me wish more to visit Switzerland and hope to enjoy the shooting culture there too; Canada doesn't have much of a marksmanship culture left these days, and most of those that do shoot are more interested in "tacticool" disciplines like PRS and moving drills rather than historical or TR

I like the tradition of this event.  Both to Switzerland and to the channel.

I went to Murten several times last year for work.  Never knew the Burgundy connection, thanks for that.

So enjoyable to see all the different long guns from different ages! Must have been a beautiful day! :)

Its so odd to see local events from the perspective of other people lol But honestly makes me appreciate my own country more and I honestly think our pretty little country definitly deserves more of that.

This range setup would be impossible in Germany :D

Is it my imagination, but the Chap did not go to shoot at the French? Good time, fresh air and a wonderful video. Thanks Bloke.

that bolt action looks butter smooth

Appreciate the match content.

You don't have shooting glasses?  These may could improve your results...
Thanks for sharing

13:54 Absolutly outrageous!

Love some more classic BOTR content

Thank you Mike ! 👍🏼

For the glory of the algorithm Mike.

Good stuff,  but i think you were as well a little further forward in your position then your neighbors,  which gave you more muzzlel flash.  However cool stuff
