Fun fact
Potatoes did not exist in Europe during the Middle Ages
They are native to South America
They only arrived in Europe in the late 1500s

I continue to wait for the reaction to the traditional Romanian anti-vampire pot roast. Not just because paws is Romanian but because I like that episode and I made that roast and it was really good.

I do love it when Paws reacts to Tasting History. It's two of my favorite things coming together kind of like bread and cheese 😂

Probably not a good idea to watch this while hungry

This was such a good recommendation, Paws. Thank you. 🥳👍

5:55 I mean, I like eggus because it sounds like some roman dude who had a prankster father.

26:22 I’d eat it, but it looks exactly how I’d imagine medieval peasant food would look like.

miller's background story telling is word for word the description of life in a rural area of today. times didnt change much.

"oh yeah, this is a cooking video!" This does sum his videos when you get hooked into the history portions.

I'm with you, completely forgot about the food during his history portion.  Probably one of the reasons he's one of my more favorite channels to watch.

The thing about medieval food, at least in Europe, was that warm means healthy. Raw meat rots and makes you sick but cooking it made it safe. So the association with temperature came about. It's part of why vegetables were seen as unhealthy, they're usually cold. This also has to do with spices.

Sometimes I make a mix of powdered spices and toss cubes of cheese through it before eating it with pickled veggies and cold cut meat and sourdough.

DND FUN TALK❤ I love rewatching this one a ton. And honestly, a never ending pot of soup sounds perfect for chilling weather.

14:29 More like the first versions of the health inspection.

Sharpham Brie, legally it has to be called this and not just Brie since it is made in England and not the French town of Brie.
It is creamier than regular Brie due to the differences in climate, and is such considered better than Brie. So if you want to eat cheese, and like Brie, why not get the best Brie there is Sharpham Brie

Cheese recommendations: Camembert is a common go-to; it can be prepared in many ways, such as grilling, frying, or in fondue, although I don't like it "raw", because its creamy inside. Parmesan alone is a bit dry, but good with something else, like on pasta, with fruit, etc. Edami is good in a sandwich, and with other things (like parmesan), but less dry and milder. Lastly, there is mozzarella, which is also commonly used in cooking, but in salads and alone as well, since it has the mildest flavor. (and also closest to what any cheese originally looked like before ageing.

Perpetual stew is such a fun idea

When GRRM mentions the “bowl of brown” in Game of Thrones, he is referring to those “perpetual stews” that Max mentions.

Your commentary was so fun! 👏🤩

Yay another Paws Max Miller react! I love this channel too 😊❤
