Before the war, Keihan had a grand ambition to connect Osaka and Nagoya.

It would be a straight, high-standard line that would branch off from Nishimukomachi Station (now Nishimuko Station) on the Shin-Keihan (now the Hankyu Kyoto Line), cross southern Kyoto, go from Yamashina to Baba in Otsu, cross the Omi Basin, cut through a tunnel through the Suzuka Mountains, and then go through Mie Prefecture to Nagoya. The plan was to run the Shin-Keihan P-6 trains on this line, cutting through the Tokaido Main Line and the Kansai Main Line, which were run by steam locomotives at the time. At the time, Kintetsu had not yet connected to Nagoya, and if this had been realized, the Meihan Limited Express Hitotori might not have existed.

However, in reality, the plan was thwarted by the Great Depression and World War II.

In this fantasy, what if the Nagoya extension plan had been partially started before the war? Ultimately, the goal would be Nagoya, but since this fantasy is the first one, it's the Kyoto edition.

If Keihan had started the plan, the Tokaido Shinkansen might not have passed through Kyoto Station, but would have passed through Fushimi Ward in the southern part of the city, and Shin-Kyoto Station. And now, that area has developed greatly, becoming the new urban center of Kyoto. This is a delusion.
