In 2020, Hokushin Kyuko Railway, a private railway company affiliated with Hankyu in Kobe, became the Kobe Municipal Subway Hokushin Line, and fares between Tanigami and Sannomiya were halved.
Hokushin Kyuko Railway is a unique private railway company with almost the entire line in mountain tunnels, and due to high construction costs, fares were set high and user numbers were sluggish.
Various measures were taken, such as: ・Reducing fares by 80 yen through the injection of subsidies
・Improved transfer convenience by remodeling Tanigami Station
but nothing was decisive.
So Kobe City decided to take a drastic measure. They purchased Hokushin Kyuko Railway and integrated it with the subway.
