It's funny that Seth Rogan is a producer of both the Boys and Invincible and both became insanely successful by one being nothing like their comic source, and the other being so much like its source material it's often word for word with it

The main reason I didn’t like the Comic or the Show is that I disagree that the average person would go completely insane if they got powers. Unless it’s something like the Venom symbiote that amplified negative emotions. I worked in a hospital and there are so many good people in this world. The idea we are all one radioactive spider bite from turning into psychotic perverts is just frustrating to me.

Bro must feel so vindicated rn.

The director legitimately creeps me out with the way he thinks disgusting shock content is somehow a net gain for the world's psyche, like somehow it's healing. And that's not me saying that, he is. When an actor came to him saying "I refuse to say this line it's disgusting" his response was more-or-less "That's how I know the writers are doing their job"

(If you're wondering, the actor was Jensen and you can thank him for talking the director out of making Soldier Boy a pdf)

The funniest thing about the Boys show will be the Queen Maeve thing. Making her character a critique on gay/bi  pandering, then their excuse for her surviving the soldier boy nuke, out of universe, being " we thought killing off our gay/bi  character was problematic. "

Keep in mind, Hughie goes off at Annie in the comics not only because Butcher shows the video to Hughie without any context, but also because one of the people there is A-TRAIN, the guy who KILLED HIS GIRLFRIEND. So in his mind, all he sees is his now-girlfriend giving sexual favours to the man that killed his ex-girlfriend. That WOULD drive someone over the edge, but it shows that he's still naive because he doesn't know how to communicate or ask, he just believes what he hears.

Every season: Lets shoot at bullet proof people and then use black mail. When the blackmail doesn't work THEN we can take V

I find Homelander's characterization in the show so different from the comics the comparison is completely apples and oranges. Comic Homelander, like you said, is a man with special powers trying to be special. Show Homelander is a product made person and how mentally unstable that life is.

That thumbnail is underrated. Comics butcher and tv homelander would be the most diabolical matchup as they are the most unhinged extreme versions of the characters.

Honestly, did anyone expected a comic book whose one of the main themes is critiquing extreme capitalism to get a good adaptation from a company? Let alone one as big as AMAZON?

I don't think an average person would use their powers wholly selfishly. I think people are selfish, but people also on the whole, past all the irony-poisoning and nihilism of modernity, want to do good. I think an average person with superpowers would be a very mixed bag.

“The Female” is such a good and fitting name. It both describes how strange the character is, their dynamic in the main cast, AND what she’s a parody of in just her name.

I kinda wish they at least ran with it for a little bit in the show.

this is actually interesting for someone who hasent read the comics, didnt know it was deeper than just "fuck superheros"

counterpoint regarding Homelander, I feel like you really misjudge how good people tend to be.

Realistically, you'd have some people who would be worried about hurting people with their powers.  A lot.  From my understanding, Homelander is the way he is because Vought raised him to be that way.  He's not 'Superman if he was a regular guy', he's 'Superman if he was raised by apathetic corporate overlords'.  Remember, Superman's upbringing is part of why he's a good person (There's a reason why the old motto was 'Truth, Justice, and the American Way').  It stands to reason Homelander's would be too.

This video has aged like fine wine.

seeing the pattern of Hughie and Annie makes me feel like the writers didn’t believed the show would have more seasons, so they made sure to put all of their character arc in the one season they got, and then suddenly you have 4 more seasons worth of character development you need to give them, so now you’re fucked

I always enjoyed how in the comics the military was super competent and actually defeated the super heroes. That was such a twist.

They honestly didn't even need to have becky be alive in season 2 if they were gonna kill her off and have the son be literally nothing important for the rest of the show

In regards to Hughey killing Translucent, what I think the show should've done is that when Translucent escapes from his cage, he attacks Hughey with full intention of killing him, and Hughey in full desperation, triggers the bomb inside Translucent, killing him. This way it can be potrayed as a dark moment where Hughey has to take another man's life in order to save himself, but still reacts with horror to what he's done and realising the situation he's involved himself in.

So fun fact, PointlessHub updated the thumbnail for his video on The Boys comic to say that “The Show WAS Better” instead of “The show is better” which illustrates how much the show has fallen off for him.

I will mention again that there’s potential for a story where actual Supervillains are stranded in The Boys universe. Like imagine we take villains from DC, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, TMNT, My Hero Academia, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Powerpuff Girls, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, etc. and threw em all into the world of The Boys whether it be the show or the comics.

Like you could do a lot with that premise. Like maybe a horror story where everything goes to hell the moment that Vilgax or Utrom Shredder takes out Homelander in a brutal way.
