Thanks for this terrific video. Manchester 2023 was my 14th marathon, but my first since foot surgery in 2020, and made for a wonderful return. I like your dry, understated, often unspoken wit very much. It's a perfect complement to other more manic hyper-enthused running bloggers. There's room for all styles. It's great to have a PoV record of such an exciting and happy day. And well done for being so methodical and learning from what happens differently when you try different things. I think you have gifted me a new mantra, about going off too quickly. A vivid metaphor.

Yes! Well done, Rich. Nothing can stop you at the moment, even those red lights you blatantly ignored throughout.

It's so good to see someone hit their A goal. I see loads of people blow up and fail. Nice work 👍🏻🏃‍♂️😎

Congratulations Rich! I've loved following this series since the start of the year as I prepared for London Marathon. I managed 3:30:24 which I'm delighted with. A lot of your experiences rang true for me too so please do continue!

The info afterwards about the plan etc was very interesting. Useful stuff for would be marathon runners. I bet it was tough but you made it look quite easy tbf

Weldone, Rich. congratulations on the new PB.

I ran Manchester, too. and like you, I got a PB.
I was right behind you on the start line. (bold head, black headband. wanted to say hello but bottled it.

well done mate - super consistent pace! i really enjoyed running MCR this year (finished in 3hr 32) and think it was also down to just sticking to a plan for pace and fuel - just as you did yourself. funnily enough, Brighton last year was also my worst marathon. walked most of that industrial hell hole towards the end and got overtaken by a guy in a chicken costume. thankfully all in the past now. look forward to seeing what you run next!

The Sally Army, playing what sounded like something from a Peter Greenaway movie, was a lovely contrast to Liam’s dispiriting, inescapable caterwauling. Certainly, the dog on the right, in the pink blanket, seemed to dig it. Roy Wood on cornet on the far left ?

Great video and the Oasis comments made me laugh! I'm flying out from Perth (Oz not Scotland!) in 4 weeks for a repeat of my Manchester / London Marathon double from last year! Madness I know but it makes the mandatory family visits more palatable 🙂(I'm originally from Manchester).

I was there too, and this video brought it all back like last night's curry! Great video, enjoying the channel.

Well done. Great effort and time. Best wishes on the next.

Keep the videos coming! I've got my first half marathon in 2 weeks in Hackney. Maybe a marathon could be on my horizon for next year (or the year after).
