‘Fantasy Britain’ being where the ‘creators’ of the Warhammer Fantasy world came from is a nice in-joke.

The isle of wights is my favourite joke in all of warhammer.

There is also a VERY old warhammer campaign set, from the 2nd edition, called "The tragedy of McDeath" that takes place on Albion. East Albion to be precise. Although I dont know how much of it would fit in the current setting.

"They didn't care who was approaching, they just didn't want invaders there"
I mean, fair.

Just remember, unless it's from Albion it's only "Sparkling Treachery", not true Perfidy.

"Geezer" is another word for "Bloke" - Curious Geezer is a perfect name for an explorer 😂

I've studied British prehistoric archaeology as part of my undergrad, and love how Albion engages with it! My favourite element is the settlement of Bol-a-hat. Sure it's a pun on the stereotypical British Bowler Hat, but it's also an anagram of (Loch) Olabhat, a real prehistoric British settlement!

I adore these old modules... So much wimsy, and horror, in harmony.

I remember when GW used to do these fun summer campaigns, you could actually play games in the store, they had more then one employee working. And you could field an army for $250!

My dad has all of the Albion minis in his collection - may have to paint them up soon!

12:56 No-one from Nottingham would call it the "North of England". We're East Midlands. dammit. ;)

I love how almost every location is a gag about something in the British Isles. Absolute scenes from the GW lads in the 80s and 90s.

"Curious Geasar" seems like a pun on "Julius Ceasar" as well as "Curious Geezer".

I noticed a lot of influence in style and artwork coming from the comic Slaine by Simon Bisley.

Great vid, thanks for this. As a Brit myself having just come through 6 months of wet, rainy, foggy cloudy winter, yes I can confirm, Albion is pretty much as depicted by GW back in the day! I've always loved the mythology of these islands, which they drew heavily on for the lore of Albion. I think the Femir are based on the Fomor of Irish legends. Don't forget, GW were heavily influenced by 2000AD the comic and Pat Mills character of Slaine, the Irish warrior chieftain would have been a big influence on their writing! BTW - Ogham is pronounced 'Ohm', and Albion usually 'albiun'.

You can play as the Albions with a mod on the Total War Warhammer games! Its the last faction i need to do a deep dive into but their roster looks really interesting. They're basically a order aligned maurader faction with a supporting roster of giants, centaurs, fenbeasts and other monsters!

I remember Dark Shadows too. Some of my earliest hobby memories are right around this time. Seeing the Dark Emissary miniature just brought back a lot of memories!

I started a Burrow Kings army were the idea was green mossy skeletons and wights (old grave guard models) lead by Necormancers based on the Dark Emissary model and with Fen Beasts as Ushabti (never liked Vampirers or Tomb King, Necromancers and Wights has always been where it was at for me when it came to Undead).

Never got very far on it but I still think it would have been an awesome army.
