I have a pair of Kangals on my ranch to protect my herd animals. Coyotes, bears and mountain lions are the major threats, along with a random human intruder or two. They are incredible creatures.💕🐾🐾

I have a kangal/pyr mix. I wanted a full kangal, but I settled for this when I met the parents. Both affection and loving and gentle. Their son is also the same. It's amazing to watch all the children to greet him and love on him. He is so calm and gentle. He only acts when necessary. So many people ask me where I got him bc they have issues with their LGDs and want one with his temperament. I am big advocate of meeting the parents of these types before committing to a puppy.

I love the kangal and my dream is to own one one day when the time is right but all these breeds are awesome but can become ass kicking machines when they need to

I like the Alabai most of all. Because we originate from the same area.

Maremma Sheepdogs are also amazing livestock guardians, a breed I have had the privilege of living with for 55 years.

A shepherd's 3 Kangal dogs were operating entirely on their own, chasing wolf packs away all winter from over 20 kilometers away from the flock. I personally know the owner and the dogs. While the sheep weren't even let out of the village barn into the pasture due to harsh winters, these Kangals were constantly hunting or relentlessly harassing the local wolves to drive them out of the region. I witnessed this firsthand.

Hej Anneka, this is such an important video‼️ (I follow the work that’s going on all over the world, regarding new ways of protecting wolves, AND livestock from wolves‼️) Again, thank you for all your work! Much Love from Sweden, me and my Canaan dog Luna, loves to watch your videos❣️🐕🧡

So hard to pick a favorite!!! They are all so amazing! If I had more pressure from coyotes and needed dogs that could exist around people visiting the ranch more often I’d go with the Great Pyrenees; however if I had strong wolf and grizzly pressure ( let’s say near Yellowstone) I’d have a combination of Caucasian and Alabai and Kangal as well as other breeds not mentioned in this particular list .. the strength of the pack needs to face threats that are epic from such capable predators and enough dogs with such capabilities working in a large enough pack could keep away just about anything nature can throw at them without hunting down such amazing animals
