Great B&W set that the owner will surely want repaired. Can't wait to see if so and what you do to fix it.

Looking forward to part 2 (hopefully)

This TV has seen WBIR and WATE many times. My family is from Kingston and Lenoir City. Always enjoy your content!

I remember this (or a very similar) chassis in my neighbor's set. The 17DQ6 horizontal output was $1.29 at our local Sprouse Ritz (five and dime) store. I was still in grade school and was very popular in the neighborhood keeping their sets running. My first CRT change was a 1965 25" Sylvania color set which I aligned using the Heathkit IG28 I built for science class in high school. Of course the local TV shop checked with the high school for potential technicians and the rest is history!

I  actually remember when UHF tuners were an option. The Federal government mandated that all sets manufactured or imported have them by April 30, 1964 through the  All-Channel Receiver Act (ACRA) signed by JFK  in July 1962.

Will be a great save.  I like the wood color and design.  🍻

I grew up with a set similar to this. Ours was a dark brown cabinet and had both uhf and vhf. Dad had the tv guy install a new antenna on the roof when it arrived. I kept the set when i moved into my first house. The TV guy in town swapped the pitchure bulb with a used one that was just as weak. When I moved, i pushed it into a closit and left it at that house.

Really good shape, hope will last many years

Wow, this is in good shape.  Many people bought their first TV from Sears then.

I have the similar Sears 23" black and white VHF only console model with a turntable and radio. It was sitting on the road with a nice cabinet. Still had a coax 75 ohm adapter on it. Brought it home and tested. TV worked fine. Put it in the garage 20 years ago and have not turned it on since. I don't know what to do with it. Most people don't want something huge, long with a black & white TV. I will get it around to putting it on eBay one of these years.

That chassis looks like it could also be used in the 19” portable version of that set.

GOOD JOB

Warwick.  I used to run at Sears.

Wow that a nice television set .That when sears made nice stuff .silvertone by sears they made console stereos that sounded good . I like vintage stuff .They make color sets to I believe.I seen silvertone guitar amps also and Table top radios by silvertone from sears .

Yes Silvertone sets used Japanese tubes in most of the ones I had to work on.  Biggest PITA with Sears sets was getting schematics. Remember tubes can go short in different orientations than just vertical. I think I saw another 'lytic by the 8CG7 on it's left. Those black ;lytics were very high failure sets. Many of the sets I saw from Sears were Japanese made.

Jordan,
I watch your videos great content, I have a 1967 airline stereo console that needs a good going through, I think the capacitors are going bad it’s starting to get a hum on the radio portion and record player function as well. I’m in Indiana I know you mentioned you are in Tennessee, I would like to talk to you more about it sometime not in no hurry at all it was my dad’s he bought it new in 67 my mom passed away in July so I have acquired it. If interested working on it I will pull the chassis and get it to you. Thanks!

Wait, so you're in East TN? Been watching you for years and didn't realize that. Lenoir City and Loudon are names I sure do know. I'm from up in the Tri-Cities area, but been in Nashville now for many years, with friends and family sprinkled around in Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Maryville, etc. Thanks for all the great videos!

What exactly does a tube do inside of a TV

I've never heard of a Seats Silvertone.

Imagine....that set was on when the JFK assassination was happening...
