I want to be better tomorrow than I was today. Everyday is a journey of learning. Sometimes little things, sometimes big. I am extremely careful whose feet I sit at. Heck I think I was following you for a year or so, went to the Phot Slam before I finally decided you might be worth spending money on at the Birds in Flight workshop. Then I stepped slowly into the Mentorship, talked with several who had done it before I bit that bullet. No regrets, thanks. Learning tons even in the areas I thought I knew. I am that way with the few other photographers, bible teachers, even Triumph mechanics that I learn from. It is important to watch what your feeding your brain. Keep learning brother!

I’ve never posted but have watched all your videos (that’s a lot) just wanted to thank you for all of this (retired therapist here) in another life I would have loved to hang out (you’re my kind of people). Thanks again.

My OM journey has ben enhanced by your knowledge. One thing you said that hit me was that you have to know your camera inside and out. That stuck with me.
There is no doubt you are a master. Your OM knowledge and passion amazing and inspiring.

When you said there are animals you have ywt to shoot, i just knew you would say you were headed to Australia! Enjoy!
😊

Thank you, Lee, for this video. It actually made me rethink the way I consume photography content on YouTube. As an amateur photographer who has learned pretty much everything on my own, it’s not always easy to find your way through the jungle of tutorials, reviews, tips and opinions out there. After watching your video, I ended up unsubscribing from quite a few channels and keeping only a handful that I genuinely find useful. Robin Wong and Tob Trek were actually the ones who introduced me to the Olympus world, and eventually to the OM-1 system. But after watching your video, I’m making a significant reduction in the amount of photography content I follow.
Sometimes, less information is exactly what we need to actually improve our photography. Thanks again. 🙏👍

Great video from an old doc who still loves learning, not just investigating certain aspects of medicine, but also about photography, and really enjoy your videos and comments. One of the things that always intrigues me are people like yourself who perhaps were in one career track or area of interest, and then change to something different - like yourself, going from your educational background and being a church planter to making a career in photography. Always curious in understanding what prompted a switch. I know in my 42 year career of family medicine, I wandered all over in various topics and perspectives in medicine. I don’t really expect an answer (none of my business actually), but want you to know how much I love your approach and candor and desire to keep the candle of learning burning bright!

Howdy Lee. Example of learning from wrong person: Yesterday I was at a workshop on a night photography expert. He spent lots of minutes on telling the full frame owners about how difficult and important it is to focus on stars. You can't just dial the lens to infinity and get proper focus. He did not know that OM bodies have a star focus feature that is quick and accurate. You could several images in the bag with OM systems before he finished shooting test shots. Wishing you all the best!

I must say you are brutally honest, and I like your videos and having a direction to follow is what I’m going to focus on thank you

Thanks Lee, I have learned and made small changes to how I have my camera setup from watching your videos. I also can tell if I was ever able to go on a trip with you I would have a great time.

Lee is right about the "skinnin' a cat." I went to a workshop for "Multiplicity", the instuctor showed us how to do it on Lightroom. I don't use lightroom because I was raised on Photoshop and everything I need is there anyway. So with my limited knowledge I looked to YouTube. I found a lot of instuctional videos and tried to follow step by step, yet some would skip over a step, not showing you only saying do this or do this again and you would need to go back and find that step. I have just started my Olympus /OM adventure while keeping my Pentax's APC, FF and Med. knowing that there is no one camera that does it all. I set up a shoot to shoot star trail and followed some instuctions on setting up my OM 1 Mark l for it. I did something wrong or a step was missed by me or the instuctor. I do some teaching myself mostly with models. When I teach I will give people the link to the YouTube Video I like on the subject and say watch this on how to do the steps. 1 because it is a tool for them to repeat it over and over again. 2 it is better then me teaching you once and you forgeting it on the way home. Both Lee and I started the same way in photography on a Vivitar Camera for me mine was a few years before him. He has done a talk at my camera club via video in Simsbury. You need to keep learning in photography and finding the right teacher is key. There are teachers just out for the paycheck and other that do it for the passion. Passion is where you learn the most.

I hear you. My journey has been with trumpet playing. I found a teacher to teach me the things I wanted to learn and we worked on them. Now I am wanting to make the next step (jazz soloing) so am looking for a new instructor. However, there are more than enough social media folks that may not provide me what I think I want to know. - so0 they don't. OM System photography and photography are next. Thanks.

Thanks, Lee. Great video. Have to go back and view your recent noise settings video. Blew me away that some of these manuals you can buy on OM don’t even mention the reason for those three settings correctly. Whenever I get overwhelmed by my camera, I go back to my film days and ask myself what would I have set up on my Canon A-1. Obviously, all the Olympus computational features are a plus on top of what I had on that camera. Cheers always.
