78 year old ex witness here. My wife started studying in 1981. She passed on Sept 15th of 2009. I got told by the elders that she would be back in 6 months. 3 months later I got Baptized. They lied again ! ! ! That was over 20 years ago !. I was the only person in the congregation who in reality enjoyed field service. I turned in my resignation on August 11th of 2021.After that God started talking to me for the first time in my life. AMAZING ! ! ! I am now a true CHRISTIAN. I have 7 adult children. Two are OUT, Five are IN and I no longer have a relationship with them. Most of my Grand children have nothing to do with me. THE WATCHTOWER IS COMPLETELY "EVIL". HOWEVER; NOW I HAVE SOME THING MUCH, MUCH BETTER. I HAVE JESUS CHRIST . THERE IS NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING THAT CAN EVEN COME CLOSE TH THAT! ! ! PRAISE GOD ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The changes to the 1914 generation that wouldn’t pass away doctrine was a huge wake up call for me too. ‘New light’ was always their ‘go to’ excuse to gloss over past false teachings. Thanks for posting.

There are things about being a JW that are insidious....that is so well said.

Thank you so much for sharing such valuable insights. I found it very relatable and encouraging. I am 70 years old, 37 years connected to the "Borg". 7 years ago, I found the courage to leave, and of course lost family in the process. Grieved hard over the loss of my children, which gradually became manageable, realising that freedom comes with a cost. Some people from other religions are in danger of losing their life when they check out of their faith. For me leaving JW 's was incredibly liberating and I realised quickly that I was reclaiming my life, my authentic self, great appreciation, for joy of living I experience. It's never to late to leave. Better though to leave earlier, pull of the bandaid quickly.

This is so weird hearing my experience coming out of Rodneys mouth. Back in the early 90s I too knew very shortly we were either going to be in the "new system" or there was going to be some BS new darkness announced because "this generation" had come and gone and now we knew the GB were grifters. And it happenned in 1995 a few years before I thought they would have to face it. Now the biggest problem was ....how did I get hoodwinked so easily? I did not see myself as a clueless schmuck, but now I knew I was. I sure did stare down at my shoes a lot after that.

Around minute 24 you mentioned the JW's waring against independent thinking,I remember when I was waking up,about 33 years old,as a born in,my older JW sister coming back from an assembly that I had conveniently not been able to attend, telling me" they are really warning us about independent thinking" the first thing that popped into my mind was" whats the opposite of independent thinking-collective thinking or a hivemind,Cult! Cult cult! I never went back to an assembly and disassociated along whit my wife a few months later, we are still shunned by her,my other sister and my parents. At least I was able to leave the cult with my wife and, then 9 year old son. Praise Jesus and thanks for the video. FYI we ended up becoming Catholic. Life is good.

Aubrey, thanks for sharing your talks and interviews especially this one with Rodney. Among life's challenges is to be insightful and introspective with one's life and experiences. While I am a never-JW and only randomly see a few JWs every couple years, I can relate to the religious isolationism, personal self-judgment, and weight from God's heavy hand. I learn much from your conversations and interviews; please continue them. A most-valuable point from Rodney is the advice he would give his younger self. 40:40
