Not all of these tracks produced many IndyCar highlights. IndyCar racing is intertwined with street courses throughout its history. Was the Washington D.C. Freedom 250 Grand Prix a good race?

IndyCar has raced on some of the greatest street circuits in motorsports, but not every temporary track has worked out.

In this video, we look back at some of the worst street courses in IndyCar and CART history, from the infamous San Jose Grand Prix, where Champ Cars launched over light-rail tracks, to the short-lived Denver street circuit, the bumpy streets of Houston, and the parking-lot course at the Meadowlands.

We’ll also look at the new 2026 IndyCar street race in Markham, Ontario, which got off to a difficult start after track construction issues forced Friday’s on-track activity to be cancelled.

From poorly suited city streets to circuits that simply never lived up to expectations, these are some of the strangest street courses American open-wheel racing has ever tried.
