I was privileged to have worked at Park House with everyone in this documentary it brings a tear to the eye just looking back, just a quick story regarding John Hallam when we visited the National stud to visit Mill Reef while taking horse's to the sale's, when we arrived Mill Reef was out in his paddock this was in 1980 John hadn't seen him for a couple of years and when John called him his reaction was incredible he sprinted across the paddock like a lunatic just to get to John it was priceless, so many memories but that was special.
If there's a better racing doc, I haven't seen it. Thanks for uploading. What a temperament he must have had to get through the injury and rehabilitation
Mill Reef went on to become a very good sire. Perhaps Shirley Heights was his best son, but Mill Reef sired other classic winners, and he still appears in pedigrees today.
I had never heard of this documentary until l read Brough Scott’s piece on lan Balding in The Times. I am so pleased to watch it, such a difference between then and now.
Enjoyed this very much. I have a mare in my barn out of a mare who was sold in utero at the Rokeby farm dispersal. Mr Mellon had the best mares in the country. Exceptional female families.
