Loss has taken a lot from me. But it has also taught me something I never expected:

Perspective.

After reflecting on September 11 and remembering the papers floating from the Twin Towers, I found myself thinking about how quickly the things that seem so important can suddenly become insignificant.

Deadlines. Worries. Things we stress about. Things that consume our time and attention.

Loss has a way of rearranging what matters.

In this video, I’m sharing some of what grief has taught me about the shortness of life, the time we’ve been given, the people we love, and the things that are truly worth holding onto.

Ecclesiastes tells us there is wisdom in the house of mourning. None of us would choose to enter that house. But perhaps we can carry some of its wisdom with us when we leave.

Life is short. Our time matters. And sometimes suffering strips away the noise and reminds us what was important all along.

If you’re a Christian widow learning how to move forward while carrying the love and loss that have changed you, I hope you’ll find encouragement here.
