Why China's Middle Aged Are So Stressed — this is my life at 51 in China.
I'm Ziyan, 51, divorced, living in the old town of Jinzhou, China with my 80‑year‑old mother and two cats. My daughter lives alone for her piercing work.
In China, the pressure of middle age is never just one thing. It's housing, children, aging parents, and work — all at once. In this video I share what it really feels like to be 51 and still working, still paying a mortgage, caring for an 80‑year‑old parent while worrying about an adult child from a distance.
This is not just my story. It's what millions of ordinary middle‑aged people in China are going through.

Quick note for everyone: You might notice I wear a mask in my videos. That's because I have severe rhinitis, and I even wear it at home or while sleeping when my allergies act up! I have two adorable cats at home, and sometimes friends' cats come over to visit too. The cat hair triggers my severe rhinitis, but I just can't bear to be apart from them. Thank you all so much for understanding, and I truly appreciate your support. 💛

Thanks for watching my NOT YET story.
