Yes, that is me on the thumbnail! Somewhere around 1968. Been talking all my life, haha!
I am not a medical professional, and this is NOT medical advice. I am a stage IV colon cancer patient in the USA who is sharing my story. When I can find updated information about these diseases, I share them with you.
All tests and appointments with my oncologist have been delayed. What will I do while I wonder if the disease is growing again?
We aren't defined by our disease, but sometimes lost connections and hollow promises from friends and loved ones can make us feel alienated. Why don't people call when things are going well? I often wonder why some people only call when they feel a sense of guilt or urgency to call before "something bad happens." I'd rather hang out when things are going WELL!
I have been Stage IV for six years, and am hopeful that while I undergo treatment, that either a solution is found that will keep me enjoying life for another 10-, 20-, or even 30 years...even better, it would be wonderful if a cure can be found.
Colorectal cancers are on the rise worldwide and in the U.S. The largest growing segment of our population who is being diagnosed are those under the age of 50. Especially alarming are the numbers of men and women being diagnosed in their 20s and 30s. The key to success is early detection.
