Roger Miller is the best. Remember you can't go fishing in a watermelon patch but you can be happy if you put your mind to it.knuckle down , buckle down ,do it do it do it.

Faron Young told a story about when Miller tried to pitch this song to him on the bus (Roger played drums for Faron at the time). Faron Young turned it down. But everytime Roger added something to it he'd go back and play it for him again. Faron kept getting annoyed because "it was the most ridiculous thing he ever heard". Finally Faron had enough and said, "Look Roger, if you don't stop I'm gonna kick you off this bus*. He didn't play it anymore but a few weeks later he pitched it to Andy Williams and Williams recorded it. In Faron's words, "It sold 10 million...but it sounded like hell at 3:00 in the morning when I was drunk". Lol.

When I see Roger Miller I see a total Genius

I loved Roger Miller and I especially love the song In the Summertime.

Roger Miller, what an incredible talent.

I was deployed to Turkey when Roger passed.  Still recall where I was when I read it in the paper.  One of the truly unique greats that just put a smile on your face.  And what a voice.  He could sing anything, any style, but usually chose to give us a laugh.

Good lord: there's a perfect case of one performer who can do the basics, and a true genius named Roger.

My dad taught Roger to play a little on the fiddle when he was a kid in Erick, Oklahoma.

What a quick man

Roger Miller, a songwriting genius. Smoking hot in the mid '60's. Roger was always very entertaining when singing his hit songs. RIP Roger Miller.

Roger Miller was truly some kind of genius.

Absolutely, positively, no other singer like him. He had his own spin on music that it seems no one has ever been able to imitate. Miss you, brilliant Roger Miller.Forever in our hearts.

Dang me, I miss this guy!

0:52 Annette! Git out here!

I saw Roger a month before he died in Branson, Missouri.  Such a great genuine guy.

Dolly💙 RIP🙏

Cant hear that voice without seeing a rooster...

This must have been one of the funnest shows to produce with Roger Miller and Mel tillis on the same set. See the end standing with Dolly.

sneaking that odd time in the verse is insane. what a talent. legit performer.
