In this video, I’m putting the new Gaahleri Aventus V2 through its paces to see whether Gaahleri has fixed the problems that plagued the original Aventus.

I’ll be testing both the 0.2mm and 0.4mm setups, taking a closer look at the build quality, trigger response, atomisation and fine-detail performance, before using it to paint a full vampire model from start to finish showing you how to paint vampire skin and wings

Can the Aventus V2 genuinely compete with high-end airbrushes from Harder & Steenbeck and Iwata, or is it another disappointment?

While I'm brand new to airbrushing, this Aventus II is by far the most comfortable airbrush I've ever held. I have the Mobius & Swallowtail and love them, but this is by my favorite yet.

Great job on the bust. Especially with how much of it was achieved with the airbrush. It really looks like the new version of the airbrush has fixed the problems with the old. I love my Gaahleri airbrush and compressor. While the quality is not quite as high as my Iwata setup. The cost is far more reasonable. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone, especially if they are just starting out with airbrushing.

version 1 shut me down on gaahleri airbrushes. Hopefully this one is better. I'll wait and see.

Nice to see a review that doesn't just spray spoons. That said, a comparison with the 1.0 would have really put this into perspective. Also, some dots and small dagger strokes would have helped demonstrate the level of fine control.

What about real nozzle diameter? When I got Mobius 0.2 for the test, the real nozzle diameter was much bigger than 0.2mm. I compared it with 0.23 and 0.3 Iwata nozzles and 0.2 Gaahleri nozzle has real diameter around 0.35-0.4mm. Yep it was much bigger than 0.23 micron nozzle and a bit bigger than 0.3mm. Nice paint job, but honestly, you can do that with a 0.5mm. The Aventus is supposed to be a detail brush, so the only way to test it out is to use proper control... dagger strokes, not long looping lines. Tight up close details, not distance spraying. I have the original and found it clunky, haven't tried the replacement yet and I would wait 6 months before buying the Aventus II.

Hard pass. For that price I’ll get an Harder & Steenbeck. The Evolution is cheaper than that one!

I don't get why modelers feel a need to disassemble the airbrush before using it. You just annihilated performance evaluation out of the box. Keep it in its original condition, flush cleaner through it, then test it. If it doesn't work, it's Gaahleri's fault for sure.
