I once saw an interview with Morrell, where he talked about the contract negotiation for the film rights. Going over the deal with him his lawyer tells him "and this clause gives you a percentage of any sequels they may make." "Sequels?" asks Morrell, "How can there be sequels? He dies at the end!" To which the lawyer replied "By the time they're done with it, don't be surprised if it's a musical."

My favorite line from this review:

"In the book, Rambo... kills... EVERYBODY!!!"

Wait a minute?! So that shitty game based on this movie where you could shoot all the cops was actually more accurate to the book?! That kind of blew my mind

Interesting fact, my dad knew the guy that was commissioned to make the iconic Rambo knife and was actually offered one of the extra replicas but turned it down because he didn't think it would be his kind of movie and wanted the maker to keep it.

To help clarify your confusion on the structure of American law enforcement, police have jurisdiction in a certain city, sheriffs and their deputies have jurisdiction in a given county, state troopers have jurisdictions in a given state, and marshals have jurisdiction across the entire country. Some local laws extend the jurisdiction of these different departments. For example, in Georgia sheriffs and their deputies can enforce the law throughout the entire state just like state troopers.

Fun fact: there is a story that the ending was changed because on a pre-screening, after people saw the death of their favorite character, the lights went out and someone in the room said: Director, if you are in the room, I am going to kick your fucking ass.

Stallone in the Blu-Ray extras talked about a key reason they changed the ending was because of the problem of veteran suicide and how he didn't want the movie to be saying that veterans should kill themselves.  Given that suicide takes the lives of more veterans than combat does this was a very valid thing to worry about.  Great video as always Dom

One interesting bit about the movie rights to this, the author's lawyer added a clause that he would receive a portion of the merchandising rights.  At the time he thought it was pointless because he thought nobody would want a lunch box with a mass murderer on it.
He was glad that was added later

someone should mod the Dom into fallout 4

And, David Morrell did write novelizations of Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III which, oddly enough followed after the book. How can this be, you may ask? If I remember correctly, the foreword for the novelization of Rambo: First Blood Part II was basically "So, I know Rambo died and the end of the first book, but these guys threw a big bag of money on my desk to get me write this thing, so just pretend that whole 'dying' thing never happened, Okay? Okay. Good. Enjoy the story."

That "young redhead" is an amazingly baby-faced David Caruso.

The movie was filmed in and around Hope, British Columbia, Canada. The book was set in and around Madison, Kentucky. BC is more mountainous and densely wooded than Kentucky, but the climate and environment are fairly similar.

Not gonna lie, the little joke of Terrence teaching Rambo magic has to be the funniest Joke you've ever done.

Well done The Dom, can't wait for future videos.

16:50 Wow, that is a really profound way for an author to view the adapted character of his work.

just FYI, First Blood was filmed in British Colombia, Canada, but takes place in western Washington State in the US.

Oh sweet, you finally added the "wait, this is an adaptation" part of the survey

"Were unaware of the book until now: 31"
Me: Make that 32

They really missed an opportunity by losing the beard. Just imagine the trailers!
"They thought he was a HIPPIE...
When in reality, he's a severely broken man of war, shaped into a ruthlessly efficient killing machine by brutal conflict!
And they just pulled his trigger... gawd help us all!"

Did you cry when Dom said that Morrell saw Rambo as "a son who outgrew his father and walked his own path. Meaning he's definitely still proud of him, even though he can't relate to his choices anymore" or are you normal?

So a police chief throws a guy out of a town just because he's scruffy looking? That's fucked up
