The craziest part is we can make 1000 mile contacts on CB Radios but I cant keep an 8 mile cell phone call with my brother from dropping signal. Good stuff as always Eric!!

Been working the planet with 12 watt SSB since 1974.

When SHTF comms are going to be out.  Ham, CB, and GMRS are there to help.

We are so blessed to live in an era when we can stay at home and use such great, beautiful CB radio transceivers, like the Radioddity CB-5000. All we need now is for the authorities to grant us access to CW modes and digital data modes, such as FT8, on the CB band. Thank you for the video, my friend.

I've made plenty of contact on 12 watts further than 1000 even mostly of course from my base antenna a full wave cubicle quad. Last winter I was sitting out in my truck dead of winter waiting for my better half to get out of her Dr appointment in the clinic parking lot here in Colville Washington. So I'm cruzing through the frequencys on my uniden pc122 and I hear the Philippines coming through on the triple nickel as it has a channel kit installed and I key up and we go to another frequency to talk and he says I can gear ya but bearly and we're talking and I look down and I didn't have my amp turned on as I thought I did! I thought that was pretty crazy barefoot contact 7000 miles away! That sold me on the 102in whip for sure!

Man, these kids of mine ain't ever getting new shoes😅

Nice display on that rafio

Great review of the radio Erik, please do a video of the install of you're Tundra. i would like to see where to mount a CB in mine. You are a genius when it comes to that suff, and i think a video would be helpful to thousands of people. 73's

OMG, that CB conversation sounded way too much like hamming. 🤣

I had the most fun I ever had on the radio with 12 watts into a three element beam horizontally polarized. Even ham radio paled in comparison with making contacts on 11 m when the band was open. There was a guy across the valley from me that accused me of having a linear amplifier. I could never convince him that I was just running stock into three elements on the flat side. Lol.

yep, do it all the time.

You’re right about newer cars having no room for radios! I recenty got a couple of the cup holder mounts Radioddity makes, so I can use my President Thomas in my Camaro for a temp setup for road trips, and I can use em with a gmrs or dual band ham radio too.

Have reached north of London with my stock President Grant2 and a Tram 3500 on my hatchback's roof (in Pa) . If the space weather is right, you can talk world wide.

I like the format you presented in this video for what it's worth. Felt a lot more natural and had the pertinent information.

That’s a nice radio! A must have for severe weather events or just for chatting with far off people!

Awesome video as always, incredible radio.  I am an amateur radio operator K5EWM, and I run HF all the time.  Hey for cb band, that thing rocks.  I have learned through the years that ssb clarity is king and makes the contacts.  You can have distorted transmission on the same frequency your operating on and if your clarity is really clean and clear, they will hear you through all that noise. That little rig, must have a wonderful TX audio. That pristine clean audio will bust pyle ups like nothing else.  If I were to want to add cb radio to my vehicle or shack, I would definitely consider that one. I just bought a Radioddity qt60 pro, and it is a good rig, receiver is on par with my ts-480hx of course it's 200 watts, but I wanted to monitor 10 meters. It makes good contacts too.  Radiotty has it going on. Quality is there , take it out of the box and communicate with the world.
Great video as always and 73 EARNEST k5ewm 👍🇺🇲👍.

Certainly you can! Talked with 304 in Australia last night on 38LSB. 73 from 497 in SC!

That is excellent. I'm on Brewster Hill in Putnam County, New York, and I spoke to Alaska. With a nato two thousand that has been peaked and tuned twenty watts and an antr ninety nine twenty five feet in the air , with the fire stick upgrade

Another great review, Eric! Not really my flavor... I'll stick with my Icom and Strykers for 10/11 meters but that little guy does talk! Nice face, easy to read. Have a great weekend...

I ordered mine last week and I’m looking forward to getting it,because I’ve got everything ready to go up on the hill and see what she can do.thanks for the review. See you on the next one.73s.🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
