Finally a video that gets right into the topic instead of 5 minutes of intros

Good stuff, Justin, thank you! I'm convinced my 'near miss' traffic issues went WAY down wearing a white helmet. I know the data is huge on the white helmet side globally, but i was shocked myself. Doubt i will ever go back. Now i also notice how fast i see other white helmets and how far away i pick them up in my vision.

Love the comment on the lights “if they’re not blue, and not flashing, you’re probably ok”😂

Thanks Justin - another excellent video. I hope other YouTube viewers appreciate the advice from a highly trained motorcycle rider who also has spent years spent investigating the causes of motorcycle accidents. I certainly do.
Developing that sense of anticipation is huge, thinking "what if" as you ride along is one of the best ways of staying safe.

Thank you for another great video. I love your channel and just this summer finally got to fulfill my dream of 20 years -- got the better half's approval and was able to buy the first bike I can truly call "mine". And since then I have loved every minute of continuing to learn and put all the tips, tricks, and knowledge I've learned into real world use - keep it up and God bless!

Can’t argue with any of these recommendations. Much appreciated.

I guess I'm weird because I tend to notice dark shapes first, and then at night even bright colors, really aren't. Reflective works for sure. Ride like everyone else is on drugs, because sometimes they drive like it.

Love you brother!
I also love my Brake Free.

I was a rider training instructor in the 1990s, and this is a great video. A study a while ago showed bright colors higher up on the body helped the most for visibility, so a viz vest and bright helmet does the most; not dying is cool. Also, I recommend practicing panic stops, so you know how your bike reacts in that situation.
One thing I taught back then was "The Fridge Factor": just out of sight around every corner picture a fridge lying on the road, and adjust speed to be able to stop.

Good reminders/pointers. Thanks for the video.

Knowing how your bike behaves and how far it takes to hard brake to a full stop is one of the most underrated skills. This allows you to better judge your options in bad situations. When there is no one behind you and you're coming to a stop or light, brake hard with both brakes (no engine), see how long it takes, see how the bikes behaves especially on those violent couple of feet.

I love my Brake Free! Several times I've been asked by other motorcycle riders about it. It's a great way to be seen from behind! I also just started wearing a white helmet, but I originally got for three reasons; 1. Cooler during the Arizona summer rides (maybe) 2. It has built in "brake free" styled lights. 3. Looks great with my summer mesh riding jacket. As bonus (for me) the fact that it's also hi-viz!! lol

Always a white helmet here, since my first Honda in '66...and a red LED mounted on the back of my reflex vest...I plug the vest in before I start to ride. And I ride a white BMW that looks exactly like what cops ride here in Norway. When I putter down the freeway at the speed limit, nobody passes me ;)

Great common sense refresher. Winter is coming and is a great time to crack a book on technique and heavy maintenance. A habit I got into before a ride was taking 15 minutes in my nearby high school parking lot before heading out. I use it as a self and bike check. Quick stops, u-turns, listening/feeling the bike (clutch, brakes, steering). Actually aborted a ride once because steering didn't feel right. Went home and gave it a close check: bearing race cage was cracked. White helmets are the way to go for two reasons. 1. The visibility. 2. Lessens "baked brain" syndrome on a sunny summer day. Subscribed.

Running from the cops in Paris with splashy tires is amateur night. Always gotta make sure you have the PSI dialed in and that the tread is good. In all seriousness, good stuff, Justin. Cheers from Texas.

Thanks Justin for these reminders. Stepped on the bike myself 4 months ago after a 12 year hiatus and watching all these kind of videos for a mental note before riding. Also very much amazed that in the US you don't need a motorcycle license. Where I live (The Netherlands) it's mandatory.
Again thanks for all your videos (especially the handy one stepping on the righthand side floorboard) from a Honda Shadow rider.
