I'm 69 next month; started riding again 26 mths ago after 40yrs of no bikes. I have owned since restarting, a Ninja 300 & Versys 300 learners, now a Transalp and a Z900RS. The RS is staying. This is a very good video and luckily for me I use all the rules in it already. I tell people "I'm going out to put chicken strips on my tyres" and I don't care. I promised myself to ride to my ability and I stick with it. I do ride quickly when it's safe but it's a road, not a racetrack. Great video mate.

Riding since ‘86. 5 motorcycles, I’m 62.

I started "adventure" riding on a 1967 Suzuki 55 in 1970. 14 motorcycles later, I'm still riding...and still learning.

I’ve been riding for 10+ years and had 3 bikes so far. I am so glad I started on a Ninja 250. It taught me respect for the machine and how to trust myself. Thank you for your content.

Riding 57 years.  Owned 23 bikes over the years.  Competed in novice class moto-cross as a kid.  Taken over 8 motorcycle  safety and/or skill classes through the years.  I teach 40 hour Advanced Process Drivers Safety class for professional truck drivers.  Oh, and only been down in the street once, (no injury luckily) but crashed in the dirt uncountable times (minor injury only, again luckily).

I’m 63, first rode at 9 years old. I’ve had 5 personal bikes, was a Motor Officer for 20 years, and went through 4 duty bikes. I now have a BMW 1250 GS Adventure.

I’ve learned all of this through 30+ years of riding, so glad you putting this out there . I really hope the next generation of riders see this and heed the advice. I’ll be 60 in a month or two and still going strong on my gsxr 1000 , one day when I get old I’ll trade for a cruiser

Just a note on the chicken strips, while its not a measure of skill it can be a very useful diagnostic tool for the more experienced. For instance, I noticed the other day that my favorite bike have 0 chicken strips whatsoever which is not normally the case and that was a pretty big wakeup call for me. What that means specifically is that I have started getting sloppy and lazy with my technique by relying entirely on steering commands without body positioning when those two are supposed to be in conjunction. Which is obviously making the grip worse and having way smaller margins for error in general.

Bad habits like that snowballs very quickly into a problem, I think its important to be aware of it and nip it in the butt as early as possible by identifying and actually actively train on that thing for a while. Which is a step alot of people skip as well. Im over a decade in by now and I still bring my cones to an empty parking lot to practice every now and then. Nothing is more dangerous on 2 wheels than pride and complacency.

The best motorcyclist is the one who makes it home safely at the end of the day. Don‘t be stupid. Life ist too beautiful to risk it - especially when owning a motorcycle ❤
