Bowie's vocal range is in full display here. Love this album.

It’s wonderful to listen to all of Bowie’s albums again with these wonderful reactions,a fantastic format. 😊

This album is Bowie's take on Philly soul (look it up). It features a young and then unknown singer and arranger named Luther Vandross on backing vocals. This guy went on to become one of the few artists you know by a single name, like Marvin, Smokey or James. Luther, if you're ever into authentic soul, is one of the giants of the genre. The fact that Bowie recognized the guy's talent and picked him and other authentic RnB artists like Andy Newmark and jazz giant to be David Sanborn to be part of this project without being intimidated tells you how much confidence Bowie had in his own musical genius.

I'm not an RnB guy, so this is not one of my favorite Bowie records, but you can't argue with the quality of the music. In fact, what finally got me into this record was a guy named Jeffrey Gaines who about 30 years ago did an amazing cover of "Win". Check him out.

Bowie Girl is back! 👩🏻‍🎤

1975, 8th grade dance, platform shoes, wide lapels, dancing to Fame with Denise.... sweet memories Grace, Sweet memories.

"Across the Universe" is a Beatles song written by John Lennon.

Back in 1976 I was eleven years old and my aunt who was just a little older than me took me into my uncles bedroom and asked me what kind of music I liked . I said "I don't know" then she played David Bowies "Fame" and David Essex's " Rock on" on the record player and that shaped me musically . I then went out and bought my first album which was "Young Americans" . That is still such a special memory of my aunt playing me those songs !

Somebody Up There Likes Me is one of my all time favourite Bowie tracks.

Took me some years to fall in love with this record. And every time I hear it, it gets better. Watching your enjoyment 50 years after it was released, it all sounds fresh and new. Your explorations of music that I grew up with … just wonderful.

Probably one of my bowies fav. 64 yr old woman whò saw him 15 times in concert! My fav of all time

Fame is a song co-written by John Lennon, one of Bowie's biggest influences. He does the backing vocals on that song as well.

I'm away from home so much I hardly have time to watch this kind of material...But I do love being a part of it...Thank you for brightening my world up, I've loved David Bowie ever since a friend turned me on to his music...The other night when I was enjoying your show....You made a statement about how strong David Bowie's voice was...Well, I'll go further than that, when I was young I'd always count a singer's  voice as a musical--instruments in the band...That was only if they were a very good singer...What some would all (Angelic)..or from heaven...Maybe one in a thousand has that kind of voice...Roy Orberson has a triple--octave voice....You can really hear it in his song...Crying...But nobody does it better than Kanen Carpender...The brother sister band from the late 60s....The first time I heard them I was floored, I didn't know where the music stopped and the singing started, it sounded like just musical instruments playing...But the truth is these singers can only do this on certain songs and it's very beautiful when you hear it....The Carpenters have a song that really isn't their best but her voice turns into an instrument in the high parts of the song, Oh, I guess I should tell you the name of the song.....(It's Yesterday Once More)....David Bowid is also a master at this...In fact he's so good you don't need to know what he's singing about just let his music flow over you.....If any of this interest you then all I ask is when you listen to a singer who has a beautiful voice...Listen to it on a good sound system, a hundred watts or more, don't turn it all the way up but do turn it about halfway.....And get ready for an amazing ride...

I absolutely love your musical spirit.

I played this song for a friend yesterday. lol! Bowie was so unique. A true artist.

Haven't listened to this for decades: thank you so much for reminding me of a great album - and bringing such a fresh, enthusiastic reaction.

"Fascination" has such a great groove.

One of my favorite Bowie albums ❤
