This was a dark period for Bowie. Off his nut on cocaine and isolated in LA drawing pentagram on the wall. Then he comes up with this. ❤

Word on a wing is one of the best songs Bowie ever wrote. I think it's brilliant.

Groovy reaction as always Grace!
Now I’m totally ready for Scary Monsters… I mean totally. Aren’t you Grace!?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Wild is the Wind has got to be one of Bowie's all time greatest vocal performances.

A glorious piece of coked-out funk. One of my top three Bowie albums. Such a magnificent voice! Lovely reaction, Grace - you know how to listen, how to feel, how to live the music. Such a pleasure to watch your Bowie reactions!

The beginning of Station to Station is you sat in a train starting then driving away along the track. Listen to it again.

The Groovy Duchess reacts to the Thin White Duke. Awesome!

26.10 "Are we in church now?" Yes, we are. Bowie described Word On A Wing as a prayer - an answer to the profound occult symbolism which permeates Station To Station. The two songs are connected, mirroring each other. Almost every line in the lyrics of Station To Station refers to the occullt, to Aleister Crowley's magick, Shakespeare's Tempest, the stations of the cross, etc. Bowie called it the closest thing to a magic(k)al treatise he'd ever written.

TVC15 is Iggy's LSD trip.

Bowie was simply one of a kind- adored that man so much- I still cant listen to Blackstar as too raw even ten years later

About TVC 15--the song is about an incident involving Bowie's best friend Iggy Pop. At this time, David and Iggy were deeply lost in their drug addictions. One time David came over to Iggy's place and Iggy was convinced that his girlfriend had been sucked into the TV. He was very upset and trying to figure out how to get her out. David was deeply amused and wrote this song about a "girl who fell in love with her TV" and jumped into it. Of course, she was fine--she just got sick of Iggy's shit and went home but he was too stoned to notice.

It was, in fact, the side effects of the cocaine 😆

Great video Grace. Despite some of the songs sounding upbeat, Bowie describes this period as one of the lowest of his life. He was so strung out on drugs and the LA lifestyle that he doesn't even remember recording this album. Luckily for us, the label got the print and released it. This is my second favorite Bowie album. You are in what I consider the real sweet spot of Bowie's catalog. I mean, there are several great periods, but this five album run starting with Station to Station is my personal favorite. Looking forward to enjoying them all with you.

I fell in love with his voice in the early eighties as a teen. I haven’t fallen out.

From everything I have read, the musicians entered the studio and not much was written beforehand. This allowed Earl Slick to fill in a lot of gaps with his blistering guitar. Then everything fell into place. Bowie adding the final touches.
