And so to the 104th and final match. It’s the top two in the world rankings, the European and South American champions and the first World Cup match between Spain and Argentina for 60 years. Not bad, right?

Kieran Jackson is joined by Miguel Delaney and Richard Jolly in New Jersey to preview Sunday’s World Cup final. How will Argentina set up in opposition to Spain’s possession-based philosophy? In what areas are both teams vulnerable? And who will come out on top as Lamine Yamal, heir to the throne, plays in his first World Cup final against Lionel Messi, chasing his second triumph? We make our predictions.

Plus, we discuss the pros and cons (mainly cons) to the World Cup bronze final between France and England, with Kylian Mbappe’s potential golden boot stat-padding a central theme.Watch more on Independent TV: https://tinyurl.com/yc7ukx9n

Spain played in 6 AC stadiums and 1 open-air stadium (Cape Verde). Can Spain take the heat?

Argentina's style of play is mind-bending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qxi4E6ERlU

Why all this focus on Yamal? He is not Spain's main guy. Rodri is. Nah, hold up. That's going off script.

Spain's only standout game is the France match. Portugal match was average.

Richard Jolly: "With Spain it has been more of a team effort." "Argentina, on the other hand, has been much more dependent on Messi." "If Spain go on to win, POTT should be Rodri." (All inside 20 seconds at around 20:50)

Cognitive dissonance at its summit.

Great stuff lads

Norway, Croatia or Colombia would be delighted to play for third place. If England views it as a punishment, they deserve it. It is also an opportunity to regain the balls they lost against Argentina 😂

As an American, I respect Miguel's expertise, but he has been a hard listen throughout this World Cup. So much you could talk about here, and 13 unfortunate minutes in, he's imposed a self-determined standard of greatness and decreed that none of the teams here meets it.

This channel has been uneven throughout the World Cup. I think sometimes the host is trying to be more optimistic, positive, interested, and interesting, but it doesn't tend to last long.

I don't know who needs this when we're all excited about this match, aghast that France went out and then lost today, shocked at how England lost the big match and then won the consolation match, and wondering who's going to be champion. I guess there's a masochistic streak that will enjoy this artificial awards ceremony with no winner, but I am out.

You guys keep referring to Argentina team as dysfunctional …isn’t it more accurate to say they are a team that has been shaped to fit the presence of a brilliant but aging GOAT Messi. His performance is possible bc of Scaloni and teams decision to sacrifice other aspects of game to make most of his talents. Their dysfunction as you call it was their goal and whether they win or not I think it’s undeniabe they have been successful at their mission from this perspective —— to honor all that Messi has meant to them and their country

If you can’t appreciate that story you are missing the heart of what this World Cup is about for them

3rd place game counting towards stats does make it more fair

In games against Belgium a d Portugal - apart from ten minutes in first half of Belgium game - Spain couldn’t go ahead until 91’ and 88’. In case of Belgium game it took a goalkeeper error. Controlling possession is only meaningful if you can convert into goals.
