The disbelief on his face when he realises what he just achieved. World class field and he ran the perfect race. Well done Jake 👍🔥

Cram’s ecstatic commentary was the icing on a massive cake. Jake, you earned it.

Very apt that Cram was commentating and Coe presenting the gold medal. Made his heroes and millions more proud. Well done Jake, thoroughly deserved.

Steve Cram truly is a worthy successor of David Coleman.

Well who would have predicted this result? Brilliant result and the first World Champion and gold medal for GB.

Great win. As an Irishman I’m delighted to see British middle distance runners back winning again - you lads have brought so much to the sport. Fantastic win I thought initially that he might have gone too early.

Best part of Cram's commentary ... "Jake Wightman's trying to win it here!" Not a truism, rather a recognition by a great runner of the value of bravery and commitment in those circumstances

Well done Jake, took me back to the good old days of the late 70's and 80's.
