Therapist Analysis & Reaction of "SICK BOI" by Ren (ft Shade Reacts)

Another impactful and powerful song by Ren. His ability to storytell through music is unlike anything i've ever heard. I break down elements of the song and MV while my wife, Hannah, analyzes the therapy pieces of this song. This is NOT how therapy should be conducted. 👎

This one is fairly lengthly for a 3-minute song. However, there is a lot to breakdown and analyze from the therapy point-of-view. Hope you all enjoy! Tales of Jenny and Screech are up next!

This song is about medical gaslighting, he experienced it for many, many years. He was told his illness, his physical pain etc was all in his head & that he was creating it himself. He was told to think positively, do breathing exercises, meditate etc while also being prescribed meds that were inappropriate for his real, physical illness, so he had terrible reactions to the meds that made him much worse. And being told you're making yourself sick and causing your own suffering will absolutely mess with your head, so the doctors telling him he was mentally ill were actually causing his psychological problems. I'm totally supportive of mental health support & pros, but they and medical doctors need to be VERY careful not to do more harm. Medical gaslighting isn't a rare issue, it's quite common and mainly affects women, as women aren't listened to, but also men, of course.

It is always fascinating to watch any therapist react to Ren. They're able to pick up on so many nuances that Ren purposely puts into his videos. Ren said he wrote this about the gaslighting that goes on in the medical field. As you know, Ren has Lyme disease, but so many 'professionals ' told him it was all in his head for several years while his body ate itself. Because of their ignorance, he now has brain damage that will be with him for the rest of his life. He's currently in Mexico for another round of stem cells. It's absolutely crushing to see someone that's so intelligent with capacity of love, compassion, empathy and the ability to heal so many broken souls not be able to do what he was put on this planet for. His music creates conversations that we've tried to sweep under the rug. Thank you for having that conversation.

Great reaction. Other songs great for a therapist to react to: all Ren (duh), 'Chalk Outlines', 'How to be Me', 'Slaughter House', and 'Crutch'. 'Crutch' is my absolute favorite Ren Song. I hope that you do it. People don't react to it enough. It's been years and I still cry every time. I'll be here for any and all Ren. xx ❤❤❤

From what I remember from another video Ren's dad Martin (who's a therapist in the UK) passed an interesting comment about how due to the budget cuts on the mental health side of the NHS nowadays most NHS support in respect of mental health is a overworked nurse with a check list. In cases like ren's where his mental health was the collateral damage of him being given psychiatric drugs due to a wrongful diagnosis people like him are slipping through the system. Another UK Therapist youtuber (therapistreacts) also said similar things, he even said "I hope im not guilty of this".

❤❤The beat/music is louder than the therapist's voice too, perhaps reflecting the client's/patient's experience of brain fog, trying to negotiate this therapy session.

Thank you for this reaction... I have (finally) reached out to a local therapist solely because of the thoughtful reactions and responses from Ms. Hannah. Hope all goes well.... thank you.

as a person wit an autoimmune disease that ive been suffering with for 23 years, rens music is the first time i heard songs that truly connected with me. i can hardly listen to hi ren without crying. ive had a few therapists and doctors just like this woman who just ignore your word and hand you a bottle of pills that just turn you into an emotionless zombie. the thoughts and felling i have a validated through hi music. because of my illness im now going blind and ive had countless time where ive thought about ending everything, but i listen to ren and i watch that blind surfer and i get that push that i need to keep moving. i listen to his song suicide and i think about the things that happen when im gone. his music has put my life into perspective that ive never seen before.

One thing I want to say about the therapist in the video: it’s not really about what she said exactly. Well, it is, but I strongly feel it’s about that, what she exactly said is what Ren felt like. The impression it left on him. So, she wouldn’t literally say those things, she could be perfectly professional even, but still leave the image imprinted in him, that he displayed in the song. So it doesn’t really matter what a therapist wants to achieve, or says he/she wants to achieve, it matters more what is actually delivered. With every detail about it being relevant, even the ones that are more or less out of their hands, like the prices they have to charge today to be able to make a living off of it. Being a therapist you take on a big responsibility. As my language teacher told me in school, communication isn’t what A says, it’s what B understands.

When you watch (if you haven't already recorded it) the Tales (Jenny, Screech, Violet), just know: bring your ready-for-trauma preparedness.

You're right, Ren is extremely relatable to everyone. He's just a genuine dude and it shows everywhere, in his music and videos / live streams. Amazing artist.

Was sent here by my fellow Renegades... Definitely got my sub. Great breakdown. For all the ugly medical shit going on, I found the best therapist I've ever encountered. She was my counselor at the methadone clinic I was at. She was there doing the opposite, getting me off fentanyl safely, and then successfully tapered completely off methadone. She rooted me on, kept me positive, and 960 days clean today. So, big respect to those of you doing it for the right reasons, I know I'm grateful. However, too many treat you just as a file number, no connection, no fucks given.
You seem like you legit care, so thank you!
Looking forward to more of your Ren journey, you guys are in for a great experience! The Renegades will show so much love! 🖤

I notice that it goes to Ren's POV, and she's smiling, cold and clinical, reading off a chart.

Then it goes to the wide shot and she's inquisitive and more active in the conversation...

The analysis from both of you made me subscribe. Your wife is very wise and kind. Love to the you both ❤️ 💕 ❤

If I remember correctly this was after Ren was dealing with undiagnosed Lyme disease. Ren had to travel to Vancouver Canada to go through treatments. Also, this song was taken down from YouTube and the Kujo song was born from that.

Ren did a full 8 parts to his whole life its great to get insight.

You guys are the perfect reaction channel for Ren videos! I can see and understand the high level of videography& psychologic themes up to a certain level, but I'm not an expert on either. So It's awesome to see a reaction from people who are, on both subjects and in 1 video!!😍

@devinhector4095 1 year ago

7:58 absolute best reaction I've seen so far! She's catching ALL of it!!

@jenniferfoster1692 1 year ago

Great reaction & I'm so happy that Hannah gets it! Yes, he was in physical pain, Lyme disease had been left undiagnosed for years and years and he was in debilitating physical pain, he was housebound and bedbound for years, he couldn't eat, and even now he still lives with chronic pain. And then to be told it was all in his head?! The man was so mistreated. Thank you both for the genuine reaction.
