More than 140 years ago, Chinese miners worked these remote goldfields searching for gold. Today, I’m following in their footsteps.

Deep in the Australian bush, I came across old Chinese workings that have been sitting here for generations. Using my metal detector, I followed the signs they left behind, searching the surrounding ground for gold they may have missed.

The old-timers were incredibly skilled at reading the country—but without modern metal detectors, could there still be undiscovered gold hiding beneath their feet?

This is more than a gold prospecting trip. It’s a journey back through 140 years of Australian gold mining history.
