This is where YouTube shines.

"Playing fast is not as important as getting a tone"! Danny Gatton

"Playin' fast isn't as important as getting a tone." Amen.

This footage is priceless

I had the pleasure of meeting him about a month before he died. He was in town along with Jerry Donahue for the opening of James Burton's club in Shreveport, La.. He was a down to earth guy and a true guitar master. RIP.

Danny was a true master of his craft. Every time I get down and feel like taking my life I think of Danny and people like him and remind myself of all that I still have to give to the world. So sad such a true artist that I cant even fathom the things he would have done with a guitar if he was still with us. A true spirit of greatness was in his soul and he will be missed by millions that he never thought would miss him.

I feel underneath the great humour danny was a restless guy, all the unfinished projects, kind of similar to his playing where he had many ideas going at once in his mind. Danny deserved a great career

Danny Gatton will be remembered, loved and missed for a long time, God bless

Kind of hard to watch. Only because that garage is where he took his last breath. God Bless Danny Gatton. One of the finest that ever lived! The problems and trouble of this world are no longer your concern brother. Rest well and teach the Angel Band how to chicken pick!

I saw Mr. Gatton in Seattle right before he died. What an incredible genius. Probably the greatest electric guitarist of all time.

Belongs on the Mt Rushmore of guitarists.

Only came across this amazing guitarist last week. Watching this has made me realize he was also a down to earth guy. Why should a guy with so much talent end his own life? so sad.

Danny blows every one away 🎼 Sad loss !🎸

I had the privilege of him being my mentor spent many hours in that garage we were either hot rodding cars. . Mainly just me watching him spin wrenches and he loved that as much as he did playing.

Damn please post more of this !!!!!!!’ Danny was an incredible genius that shouldn’t have left so soon ! RIP Danny  love you

Wow.  Danny is one of the best guitarists .... and probably the BEST Telecaster guitarist ... I've ever seen.  He was at a roadhouse called "Doc Holidays" in Shakopee, MN back in the early 80s and it was one of the best performances I'd ever seen.  And, we hung out with him and his skeleton crew until the girls showed up and we moved away from the scene like we should have as respectful men.

I would of been fast friends with Danny...Even though i only lived 70 miles from him i never met him...Im a guitarist and into animal sanctuary and classic cars...Sure do miss Danny...

Danny was like alot of genius ....he was immensely talented but also a tortured soul...it's kind of sad watching this video because it was only like a year later that he would take his life in that very garage...we all sure miss your genius Danny....🎸🎸🎸

Danny was the best mechanic who ever lived  and he wasn,t a bad guitar player

This is one of those people who you wish lived in your neighborhood so you could go over and drink beer and help him work on the cars,  and maybe later he might break out the guitar and play some.
The man really seems like regular folks.
