Great presentation of facts, balanced and with quality visuals.  Thank you!

I wonder, have you ever been to the battlefield?  It is an eye opening visit, I traveled there before the big Covid crap with my wife, sister and brother-in-law.  Both families had motor homes and we made the trip as a vacation get away.  Before going I watched every video I could find on Youtube to get an idea of what happened, after we went on to Yellowstone National Park and spent a week there, camping out of the park on the West side and entering every day. We both had the senior passes so we didn't go broke on entrance fees. This is another great trip every American owes it to themselves to make, what a wonderful place to visit. My sister and I grew up listening to our father tell of his visit there in the 30's when he rode the rails to go out west in search of work during the depression while Grandfather stayed on the farm to keep it going. I can tell you are not from the Dakota's or Montana as your pronunciation of the Indian tribes leave a lot to be desired and your lack of military service is apparent in the pronunciation of military titles.  Perhaps you could do a bit of work on that for future endevors.

Billy Jackson was not a soldier, he was a half- blood scout. Bloody Knife was half-Ree, half Sioux, and had been so mistreated by some members of Sitting Bull's tribe when he lived with them as a child that he hated the Sioux.

Damn proud Oglala Lakota here.

Pales into insignificance compared to Wabash in 1791 and Detroit in 1812 .

Thank you for providing this great video! Excellent work!

So the white man encroached but the tribes drove each other out. How is it not encroachment when the Sioux push the Crow and others out of the area?

Very well explained and summed up to the known facts and truth of the event

My mother is a Oglala Lakota and I am proud my family help make them greasy spots on the Prairie.

You literally just read the Wikipedia article on the 7th Calvary verbatim. Word for word.

Imagine being with Custer and knowing you was about to die ,it must have been horrific. .it was the Indians last stand as well .

well done

Excellent treatise of the battle often called a massacre. Actually, it was a battle in which Custer was out maneuvered and got his and his men’s asses handed to them.

I saw the movie They died with their boots on when i was a kid. Such a tragic event.

One Chief said that Custer was crossing the river, firing at him. He shot back, hitting Custer, knocking him off his horse. While some soldiers fired at him, others came to drag Custer to shore. But, the soldiers had to run off and were later killed. The Chief went to Custer's body, and cut off Custer's trigger finger as a souvenir.

My wifes mother has Capt. Myles Keogh in her family tree. His horse was the only survivor. BTW...his surname is pronounced Kay-oh, for posterity 🙂

Custer respected the Native Americans and was friends with Bloody Knife, who he saw as a friend. Grant sent him on a mission to remove the native Americans from the area. He was following orders. I believe his strategy was to hold the women and children as hostages to keep the warriors at bay. This strategy did work in the past, but this time, it did not.

Dude, it's not Reed Indians like you pronounced it. It's arikara, and Ree for short and captain McDougall, not McDouglas, commanded company B and the pack train.

Wooden Leg, a warrior fighting Custer at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, gives an account from a Native American point of view. He disputes the "fighting to the end" claim of "bravery" by Custer and his men in their last stand.

Custer fought the Indians the same way other generals did.  Prior to the LBH fight catching the Indians was much more problematic than fighting them had ever been.  The battle at the Rosebud River was a precursor of the future but Custer was ignorant of it. The Indians had never before had such numbers in one place and been so willing to stand and fight.
