I know these archeological lecture videos probably aren't going to be as popular as the main videos, but I enjoy them a lot, and appreciate you bringing awareness to them

A TRUE historian. I have nothing but the utmost respect for this gentleman, and I thank you, Ian, for using your platform to give this presentation a wider audience.

We need forgotten history channel with Ian, long form content

One of the Reno and Benteen troopers had an 8" longer infantry version of the 1873 Springfield trapdoor rifle, which had a longer range than the 8" shorter calvary version. Another had a Sharps long range sporting rifle with a scope. Both were used quite effectively in keeping the Lakota and Northern Cheyenne from creeping up too closely to the  Reno Benteen defensive position.

Great presentation. Nice to listen to someone who knows the information and is willing to present as a stream, rather than reading off of a script and sensationalizing dubious info. Will be looking for the book.

My 1960s era RC boarding school teacher always ended earch lecture with " and there gentlemen is another example of mans inhumanity to man.
Aged 77 with much rich experience studying man as a passion, must confess he told a real truth.

I grew up nearby....visited the battlefield often in the late 60's when it was wide open with very little Park Service oversight. The winding road was our private racetrack.
On another note, we knew the family who owned the property where Fort Custer once stood. Fort Custer was about 10 miles NW on a bluff overlooking the Big Horn River. In about 1966 a friend and I found a garbage dump from the old Fort. We excavated many, many items of interest...utensils, uniform scraps, boot scraps, leather items, tack items, many uniform buttons, "US" Belt buckles, untold ammunition cartridges and bullets, multitudes of bottles, and many other odds and ends.
Richard A. Fox, Author, and a lead  Archaeolgist in the explained study, was a family friend.

There are still many unanswered questions about the soldiers movements-- Did some soldiers flee to the ravine in an attempt to get away?? And what was found in previous findings or excavations of the battlefield???

An absolutely informative and amazingly recounting of the events at little big horn. Thanks for sharing this with us Ian!!

I’m a Frenchman and I love history, this presentation was so interesting, thank you !

Went to see the little bighorn battleground when I was 15 with my family. Haunting.

Wow, great presentation.

I walked the distance from the Custer to the Reno-Benteen Battlefields in high summer.  Thank goodness for my straw cowboy hat with the brim flattened out!

People tend to forget, especially now a days, that there have been MANY battles held on mainland US soil; and there is a ton of history to be seen here.

Several years ago Gen. Parker Hills ret. Studied this process closely and applied it to the Battle of Raymond, Mississippi, one of the battles of the Vicksburg Campaign. They followed the plan used by the Little Big Horn crew closely. They found a great deal of artifacts that, when geolocated, show the pattern of the battle and, when paired with accounts revealed some unknown aspects of troop movements and arms and equipment, which turned out to be quite diverse on the US side.

Thank you, Ian, for this video.

Thank you for uploading these lecture videos, it is wonderful to have these live on outside the venues.

The comments about his delivery are infuriating. This dude spent 40 YEARS on the research, his presentation is perfect.

Thank you, Ian, for bringing us this amazing presentation.
The speaker understands the subject in way only possible through decades of work. I loved his delivery.
I also appreciated how he was respectful of the cultures of the combatants.

The same guys did the Hembillo battlefield at white sands missile range,  extremely interesting
