Ultimate Analysis

After we finally got some more news about Danganronpa 2x2 in yesterday's Nintendo Direct, as well as getting a full release date trailer, I spent the last day and a half analyzing them in excruciating detail, to make sure I know exactly what they have in store for us in January. They revealed a surprising amount of information, which makes we wonder if they're just red herrings and I'm spending all this time reading into every little detail for nothing, but hey, that's what I'm here for!

Let me know your thoughts and theories on all the new info we got!

The V3 culprit ranking video will be out by the end of the month (hopefully)!

A decent amount of the theories I come up with in this video are under the assumption that everything they showed us in the trailers about Slayhem Mode and its first trial is accurate - it's entirely possible these are red herrings, and I shouldn't be using them to predict the first victim. HOWEVER, it's fun for me to try and figure it all out, so regardless of whether a certain death portrait is actually from Slayhem Mode, or whether a certain character makes it to the 5th trial or not, I still had a great time trying to workshop different possibilities :)

Let me know any theories you came up with that I didn't cover in this video!

All we need to know is the Mioda crew is innocent

Akimbo is referencing dual wielding guns. The Akimbo Consensus is referencing dual wielding the power to agree and refute arguments

4:43 Don't forget that Rantaro was in V3's trailer in a nonstop debate so don't be too confident

The "please enjoy this game until the credits roll" line makes me immediately think of Twilight Syndrome Murder Case, which had a secret code at the end of the credits. While I don't expect it, it would be neat if Slayhem mode ends up having something tied to pressing down 5 times on the title screen as a nod to it.

Honestly they all giving us the hopes for mikan to be survivor just to be the blackened for chapter 5 would be such a despair induncing thing

The whole "Mioda Crew is innocent" line is making me think that maybe one of the motives is that people are going to have to work in teams, and the whole team graduates if they deceive everyone. But in exchange, the whole team gets executed if one of their members were found out.

What could’ve POSSIBLY happened for the trial room to be on fire 😭💔

3:40 W reference. I think Akimbo also means dual wielding which explains the "refute" or "agree" options in the new minigame. My theory is that: you have 2 guns and I guess you're shooting EVERY statement - even the correct ones and basically stating they're correct/false until you find the outlier that is the opposite.

Or it'll be more like Ace attorney where you press for details by agreeing or disagreeing - unlocking more dialogue to refute or consent with.

I don't personally put much stock in character sprites or truth bullets, because those could easily be tampered with to hide plot elements from the final game. I recall Prerelease of V3 showing the first victim in a Scrum Debate despite them never actually making it to trial in the final game.

...However, I DO think that art of Hajime and Mahiru in the courtroom while it's on fire is pretty good grounds to believe that Mahiru lives longer, because that's a whole-ass cutscene with new art and everything. I dunno if they'd put in that much effort just for the fakeout.

Ok, hear me out.

Maxing out the "Slayhem meter" will either A: Make you a priority target for others to kill, like an incentive, B: make you more likely to kill by some wierd digital tech world stuff, or C: (the theory i think is the most possible) give you access to the slayhem items to make nearly impossible murders happen because you don't know who got what.

I love that this trailer basically killed all thoughts of a protagonist switch LMAO

From what I have seen there’s been this huge thoery abt the courtroom on fire.

People have been speculating that it’s what happens when they vote wrong and that’s the initial ch 1 of slayhem. And everyone dies then Monokuma resets the neo world program then gives them the slayhem items.

I sincerely hope Mikan actually does survive up to the fifth trial.

I’m surprised so many people think the fire decals in peko’s amusement park cg is actual fire considering 1) fire is in the game and doesn’t look like that and 2) many amusement park ride stereotypically have fire decals like that. Heck a common roller coaster is literally called “Ring of Fire”.

Also the Revival Med is just in a different font that straightens the bottom part of the letter “e”.

3:40 game grumps brainrot has also made me now think of Mahiru as the “Just what the heck is going on around here” girl and NOTHING ELSE 😭

2:20 Hiyokos slayhem items are probably either a singular bladed fan or a pair of them so she can do traditional dances with them

@HearThatSound 3 weeks ago

11:15 To me, this sounds like it could be a line pulled from a trial when they introduce us to the first scrum debate. The cast starts “talking in circles” since they can’t agree, so Monokuma gets fed up with it and proposes a “change of scenery” (I’m assuming the trial grounds will morph like they did in V3)
