I Ranked Every Danganronpa Culprit by How Close They Were to Getting Away With It

Ultimate Analysis

I went through every Danganronpa Daily Life, investigation, and class trial to determine which culprits were closest to getting away with their crime. Using a scoring system I developed, I evaluated and ranked every Danganronpa culprit based on their planning, execution, trial performance, and more, in order to systematically determine which culprits were closest to deceiving their classmates and graduating Hope's Peak Academy.

This video only contains the ranking of the Trigger Happy Havoc culprits, there will be future videos for the DR2 and V3 culprits. Let me know which placement in the rankings surprised you the most!

Thanks for watching! Let me know which placement surprised you the most and who you think will rank the highest of the DR2 culprits

I appreciate that you scored luck as a factor too. Considering how much emphasis the game puts on luck being a real tangible and almost measurable thing that they can even implant through brain surgery somehow, it makes sense that it should matter more than usual :)

the fact Hina managed to come first despite the fact she didn’t kill Sakura is so fucking funny to me

Trying to hit that eight-minute mark I see?

I like how Hiros existence just ruins Celeste’s plan

I love how every piece of evidence that implicates Hina winds up exonerating her. The footprints, the poison and the protein. All of them wind up proving her innocence.

Mondo's "dude" and "chick" thing is a quirk of translation. The game was originally written in Japanese, in which Mondo using specifically gendered language makes more sense and has much less wiggle room.

When it comes to Celeste, I've always believed her attempts to manipulate everyone and craft a perfect crime falling flat was a writing choice. She builds herself up as this grand, emotionally distant queen of liars who can commit the perfect crime, but the reality of Taeko Yasuhiro is she's none of that, just a normal person who can't craft an unsolvable murder and doesn't even feel good about doing it. It does make the case too easy to solve for the player, but it fits her character perfectly to slip up so many times.

"Celeste did as much self sabotage in her case as Hiro." GENERATIONAL slander piece just dropped.

I like how Toko was one of the best at cleaning up the crime scene, she probably had to clean up after Genocider all the time

i'm surprised hifumi didnt get extra negative points from the fact that hes obviously the only person who would design the robo justice suit lmao

This has quickly become one of my favorite channels about Danganronpa related analysis, actually really delving into the characters and details of the game while mostly taking it seriously, this is exactly the kind of thing the modern danganronpa community has been lacking.

This video definitely reconfirmed my belief that if Sayaka lived she’d be 4th most useful in the trials in thh

Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine a world where Mondo can get away with his crime. I just can't imagine him not immediately cracking as soon as Voting Time starts.

Like, his pride wouldn't let him get away with it, imo. He wouldn't be able to go on living with the knowledge of what he did, and he knows it.

Honestly, out of all the culprits in these games, Mondo is the one who feels the most like the type to let the class trial go on as long as possible just to punish himself. "This is what you did. Look at the consequences of your actions." That type of thing. Every deduction his friends make, just one more twist of the knife as he watches how desperate they are to survive.

I love the irony that there are several points in the game where Byakuya says "it is the height of foolishness to expect others to behave according to your standards", usually in response to things Hina says.
And then Chapter 4 happens.

The fact that two characters that didn’t successfully kill anyone had a higher score than the characters who did really shows how much “first game syndrome” THH had with its culprits.

My guess as to what was going on with Mondo's evidence disposal is:

When Mondo bashed Chihiro's head in, blood likely splattered on his jacket. To avoid walking around with blood on him he probably put his jacket inside the duffle with Chihiro's and took it to his room, where he then left it as he now knew the investigation is pretty short and there's not enough time to check everyone's rooms.

Probably also why Blue Track Suit stuck out to him, as he saw it in his room the whole night. Reminding him off the murder.

Hina being in first makes a lot of sense. Implicating yourself and being suspicious would be a lot easier than implicating someone else and having a totally straight case. Contradictions can actually benefit her.
Her placement makes me think that Nagito has to be at the top of dr2's list. Not only were his motivations very deeply obscured, it would've been impossible to find out had Chiaki not come forth.

You know, this video made me realize that a reason I really like the THH cases is that I like how much more believable the murders are. Leon and Mondo killing in the moment. Celestia has this very elaborate plan, but being so involved in it that it becomes obvious she's manipulating things. All those feel like something a teen would do or come up with, and their errors feel a lot more realistic.

39:27 At that point it would have been Sayaka’s word against Makoto’s, but a few students noted she was more likely to have been believed than Makoto would have been, so I think that’s worth a point in emotional manipulation
