I just wanted to say this is THE best video on this subject I have found! It’s exactly the info I was looking for! Also when she talks about repairs I heard someone say that the foundation of your locs and how you start them will determine the health and look of your locs down the road and fixing mistakes later is almost impossible. So make sure you are 100% confident that either you or your loctician are making the best choice for your hair long term and doing a great job because the way you start your locs is a permanent commitment to you and the length of your hair! I’ll say it again for the ones in the back! Make those repairs NOW! Do not wait!

I have fine low density micro locs. This is the best video! I took my hair out of the hair ties as you were talking. No more tension! My schedule is now 4-5 weeks. I love my locs. Thank you for helping me maintain it!

I love the way that you break things down. In terms of appropriate lock sizing, I do feel like that is the job of the loctician installing/establishing the locs. Most people know what they want, but they don't always know what they need. The difference between a good loctician and a great one is a good one will install locs you want and they look good for the moment where a great one will explain why what you want is not what you need and install locs that make sense for your hair long term.

You DEFINITELY know what you’re talking about Sis… I’ve got fine low density hair… I had my microlocs installed via the two strand twist method/roots interloc’d on May 19, 2025… I had lots of volume on my install day and I have lots of volume now at 22 weeks… Continued success and please keep informing the masses of us who have or who are are considering getting microlocs or sisterlocs… 🤩

Wow! I wish that I’d known this sooner.  I have fine low density hair and I want to cut my sister locks off for the reasons that you mentioned.😢

I love how you explain in sooooo detail about low density hair because I cut my locs off (2 1/2 growth) to start my micro loc (I wanted smaller locs) journey myself and it’s the best way (for my hair) because I like doing different styles but don’t like the tension so thank you soooo much for explaining 😊

I have fine low density hair, but traditional locs. My last retwist I waited 8 months. I didn’t have no thinning or damage. Study and learn what works for you

Loved this video.   I am on my 2nd loc journey.  I started my first journey with extentions an un be known to me I believe I have 4c fine low density hair.  A much different to texture to 4c dense hair.   I always wondered why I was able to manage my loose natural so well no matter how incredible the shrinkage was..lol
Throught the year I noticed that the extention was always so much thicker than the hair growing from my scalp, it never matched.  This was causing me to wrap hair in to complete match the thickness.

After a year I was tired of this and combed everything out and restarted with 2 strain twist.  I was so confused as to what part size to use.   I assumed bigger parts would make a fuller loc  but I saw too much of my scalp, smaller parts made me have micro locs which would mean longer maintenance.  I decided to go with smaller parts and 2 strand twist; crossing my finger the part size is what I liked.   After two months I took some out and redid some parts and  insta locked them after  because the strands keep unraveling and I am now 3 months in and I think I finally got the lock part ratio right.

I am glad I finally found your page because after hearing all your points I now have a better understanding of my hair.   I almost considered combing these out and ket a professional restart me because I didn't like seeing my scalp, I am now going to embrace that I have low density hair and I will see  my scalp and I can't let my new growth grow wild to avoid seeing my scalp...lol
