The X-Men, known in Spanish as Los Hombres-X and La Patrulla-X, are a fictional superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by artist/co-writer Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, the characters first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963) during the Silver Age of Comics and went on to become one of Marvel Comics' most recognized and successful franchises, appearing in numerous books, animated series, films, video games, trading cards, toys, and other collectibles. The success of this franchise is so great that its second publishing title, X-Men, from 1991, became the best-selling comic book of all time.
