Reminder that bonus action attacks, including flurry of blows, is no longer tied to the attack action, you can not only take other actions but can do flurry of blows first, knock the enemy prone first, then hit with 3 more attacks

"Sleeping guy dog-walks an owlbear" is probably the most monk-coded thing you could ask for as far as class fantasy and what people imagine when they hear "monk" or "martial arts master."

2024 rules monks are amazing. Whoever changed to deflect missiles to deflect attacks needs a raise. Also nice that the basic bonus actions are free, only costing a point if you want to upgrade them such as dodging and disengaging at the same time.

As a person who finished a 3-year campaign as a monk, yeah they are some scary things. Especially if you get extra scummy in 2024 and get the updated grappler feat that lets you get a free grapple check on your first successful unarmed attack on your turn PLUS not having your movement speed reduced when grappling.

Needless to say, the kidnapper build is something else, because the enemy has to make two saves to prevent the stun and to not get command grabbed and monk distanced away from your more vulnerable allies, and they will fail at least one of those saves.

Under 2024 rules, you can actually move up to your speed on your turn while stunned. I remember seeing somewhere that the developers confirmed this is intentional. :)

As a DM, i mistakenly allowed one of my players to maintain kensei subclass abilities while switching to 2024 for everything else in a long campaign. They were playing a Gunk (gun monk)

This character just rolls my enemies.

Real video starts at 3:30.

Monks are the anime class: i can play a stand user, goku, and the avatar

I recently played the new 2024 monk and took magic initiate as my origin feat, taking shillelagh so I can focus more on wisdom instead of dex and have magic damage straight from level 1 and  have increased damage as I level up. the other two spells from magic initiate were starry wisps for a ranged option and healing word just to have a once a day heal
theyre also a changeling and I'm having fun pretending to be a wizard, using my minor illusion from shadow monk to do silly little spells.
his wizard staff is also his quarter staff so in combat it looks like this wizard is just beating the shit out of enemies with his staff

You don’t lose your full turn while Stunned. You can still move. Neither the Stunned nor Incapacitated condition sets your movement to 0ft and Movement isn’t an Action, Bonus Action or Reaction, so you can still run away

Going through Tomb of Annihilation with a 2024 Monk in the party. She spends combat throwing enemies around the battlefield and into the range of our Polearm Master blood hunter.

just do everything you can to replicate Grand Master Monk Kane. Dude literally punches dragons for fun. And he's one of the only people in the world that can have Artemis Enteri's soul drinking dagger touch him without any adverse effects. And when he actually pushes himself, his flesh is virtually impenetrable. The dude is a literal living, breathing, walking, talking, legend of the Silver Dragon Bahamut.
*somebody liked my comment and I realised my speech-to-text really messed up Artemis' name, so had to fix that. Thanks for the like and correction lol.

finding a clip that so perfectly lines up with what you're describing while also being against a bear is damn hilarious lol

Playing as a 2024 Monk in a campaign at the moment called Granny Honeydew, and she's ridiculous. At level 12. I have five attacks a turn, with a max of 80 damage if all hit, and I roll max on the dices. 35 damage is the lowest I can roll if all hit.

Jumpscared by the Gozyuger footage. Props to the editor

Will definitely be playing Legend in the Mist when I can, I've been waiting forever for this!

Pair monk with a level in almost any spellcasting class and you get the strangest synergies. I had a pre-2024 Way of Mercy Monk and Death Domain Cleric, who could simultaneously clear a room with cleric abilities and heal downed teammates with dope monk abilities.

I'm playing a 2024 Way of Shadows Monk + Celestial warlock in one of my current campaigns and I can essentially become untouchable in the span of a turn with mirror image and deflect attacks, not to mention eldritch invocations giving me access to shield of faith.

Ironically the only characters I've ever killed as a DM have all been monks.  It's all fun and games until that d8 hit die can't soak up the damage you needed it to.

4:30 Bear???.........BEar?!........BEAR!!!!!

Just imagine this being filmed in live action....
The Director would have so many difficult choices on how to interpret this.
